It's been 6 years since Firefly, the show seems dated and other series are better now...

Well.....Dark Angel's first season comes about as close as a show ever has....

Hello chrisisall:

Will have to take your word for it. I never saw Dark Angel. Did watch Enterprise. But that one season they had with the ongoing plot dragged on to long for me. I started to drift away and even missed most of the final season. They should have continued along the lines of the first two seasons. I talk like I am an expert.

But that is why I left the show. I am still waiting for a decent SciFi to arrive. The only show that really caught my attention is Medium. They surprised me by not getting stuck in a repeating plot line. Nearly every episode was different. The characters feel very real.

This season Medium got messed up by the writers strike. Like what show didn't. It turned into game show paradise. God save me from Deal or No Deal. Most stop and wash out my mouth, I mean my keyboard.

I am actually wearing out my DVD's. Watching Firefly, Wonderfalls, and my guilty pleasure Rocky Jones Space Ranger. That last one should give you a clue as to how old I am since I saw Rocky when it first aired.

Well we really got bated into this thread. But it is a good one. Good to hear from everyone about their feelings on SciFi these days. I don't have cable so I miss a lot not having the SciFi Channel. So if there is some good programing there I only see it if a local station repeats them like they do with Stargate SG1. I am always one or two seasons behind everyone else. We did get Atlantis but they quit broadcasting it so I will miss our favorite mechanic playing doctor.

B) Kaylee is gonna be a regular!!!!

Bad thing is- I no got-y the SF Chanel, so I'll be behind when I buy the DVD's...

Looks like I will have to do the same thing. If this keeps up I will need a spare room to store my DVD collection. But which series to buy first is a hard choice. There are so many seasons of the original Stargate SG1 it will cost a fortune to get a complete collection. Maybe they will have a sale at Amason or Best But one days.

Nah... HUSH

Just ordered the Northern Exposure box set. It's a different kind of show from my younger years that I always loved. It has it's moments of pure fantasy. The kind of fantasy you really only find in real life. They always did that so well. Watching that show was one of the rare times I'd well up.

Hey out of curiosity anyone remember the Wild Palms mini series? It's been a long time since I saw that show... I've totally forgotten what the hell it was all about. I did like the imagery though: A Rhino in an empty swimming pool... Could it be called sci-fi?

?

Go with Atlantis- it's cheaper (only three seasons on DVD as of now), and the show is better than SG1 (IMO).

A fine series. Not a bad ep save for a few in the last season.

Northern Exposure fans.

I liked that show too.

I saw an episode of "Men it Trees" and I got the impression they were trying to mimic Northen Exposure. But The writers strike hit and I have not seen or heard anymore about this show so I don't know if it is returning.

Hello Chrisisall:

I think you have the right idea about getting Atlantis. Fewer seasons so I can catch up on the storyline faster. Also a lot cheaper then trying to buy several seasons of SG1. I had plans to buy one at a time and spread the cost out, but there are so many other series I would like to get. I am like a child in a candy shop when it comes to buying series. I waltze around Best Buys straining to decide what I would most like to have. That is how I found Firefly. I don't think I would have bought Firefly except for seeing Ron Glass was in it. So he is the reason I now own the finest set of DVD's in my limited collection.

God bless you Ron Glass;

I second that. I'm holding out hope for Ron guest starring on Atlantis. Don't take that to mean there are genuine rumors... or even a chance. It's my own little idea and it would rock if he was.

Just sayin'.

It was a fair time...Chrisisall

I just mean even if it's great and better than anything else it probably won't be as sweet. Part of why we love Firefly is the fact it was so tough it got beaten, smothered, kicked in the groin and shot and yet it was so amazingly witty and brilliant and honest it survived. At least in spirit anyway.

While I, like I said before, do not think Firefly will return. I do have faith that Joss will revisit the 'verse and it's downtrodden heroes again someday. And not just in graphic novel or comic book form.

I agree... and I agree.

Sorry you don't have SFchannel. I've considered dropping my satellite service. Only reason I haven't is I'm not sure I could live without Scifi and the Travel/Discovery/Science channel family. About the only channels left with anything decent on. Well History and Nat Geo aren't bad.
