Note: Sorry if this has been discussed before. New to the boards. :)
I have been watching FF/S recently and I noticed how many people have blue eyes. This trait is found in half the crew (Mal, Jayne, Simon, Wash and Kaylee… well, I guess hers are blue-ish). But it’s not just the BDH’s, it’s everyone! From guards to blue gloved ops, blue peeps seem to be everywhere.
Just an observation. Wondering if anyone has a thought about it.
Keep your eyes to the skies!

My theory: Blue eyes are improbably more common in tv shows because they are very pretty and less common than brown and people love them and that's why they are cast more often.
Plus, I think they work better with lights and such. You can see the pupils better than with dark eyes and it probably appears as more expressive. They also just look more colorful and interact with colors around them. Dark eyes like Inara's, on the other hand, more easily appear "unreadable", which is good for mysterious purposes.
Similarly, light hair has a way of playing with the light that's just more variable than dark hair.
Says the dark-eyed, dark-haired Agent Rouka withou envy. Just a fact. I think.

weird, speaking as a blue eyed blonde - i've always envied the dark haired, dark eyed of humankind!:)

And I thought blondes had all the fun!
Darker haired myself, but celtic genes have given me green eyes. Odd that so many heroines in fantasy have green eyes, but you don't see it so much on screen.
edit: except 'Big Trouble in Little China' An all-time favourite and an inspiration!

Wow, that is funny. I'd never noticed any of the eye colors...I'm not a very observant person.
Ochi Chernye here.

There's a widow in sleepy Chester
Who weeps for her only son;
There's a grave on the Pabeng River,
A grave that the Burmans shun;
And there's Subadar Prag Tewarri
Who tells how the work was done.

Ohmygod, I can so see Jayne riding a giant sandworm now. That is so very wrong.
Though I've always thought that Sean M would make a great Paul Atreides.

Kaylee's eyes are clearly hazel, but it's true most of the men have blue or green eyes. And actually most of the women have darker eyes, which is kind of interesting. I hadn't paid attention to the color range of the non-regulars, though...
And Sean would make an awesome Paul, I agree. And actually, Summer would be great as Chani, though that might be too creepifying to watch after seeing them as brother and sister.
You may say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one.

Phoenix! Where/how have you been?! Long time, no...post. Is all well?
edit; yeah, the Chani thing would be...wrong. Mind you, the parallels - older brother and creepifying younger sib...she could be St Alia of the Knife.
