Inconsiderate and dishonest I'll grant you, but she was never actively mean to the patients SFAIK. She really didn't get enough time around them to have the opportunity to really put her foot in it. It's what she was saying to her coworkers that made me nervous. We saw the last of a rather unpleasant woman this Fall, and I have no desire to work with another one just like her as it is very difficult to get rid of someone once they're hired unless they bring actual harm to a patient. You basically have to wait around until they get tired and move on or seriously shoot themselves in the foot.
It's easier to not let the situation arise in the first place.
This is why there's a probationary period with any new hire anywhere, hopefully. If it's not a good fit, it's not a good fit.
I myself quit my first nursing job out of school because I finally realized it just wasn't going to work no matter how hard I wanted it to. Luckily it never got to the point of "fiasco" but it could have. I was not cut out for that floor at that time. I have no desire to be now.
...is this turning into a multi page rant?...

Yeesh. A drink would be nice but not 'til I get home. Searching for a car for the mum and it might come down to flagging people down with for sale signs on the street 'cause that is all I have seen fitting the requirements.
