Yup. Other than a short stint in Raleigh I've been living in the Concord/Kannapolis area for 20 years.

Please, please, please tell me you've joined up at the Charlotte Browncoats group!!!
We have a St. Patrick's Day party coming up on March 15th. It'll be a good chance to meet some of the other locals.

Cool to hear it might be worth a try to revive/create a middle branch Greensboro Browncoats anyone??

As for my conversion requests it seems pretty standard to others i have heard/read. Heard vaugely about Firefly when it first aired but at the time i was anticipating the end of buffy so i admit i didn't give it much thought. I watched the first episode which of course was the woefully inadequate 'Train Job'. After watching it i felt like i missed something and decided to get back to it.

Then i went back to college/work and forgot about it mostly i heard about the variety ad and shrugged a bit, stupid me.

Fast forward about 3 years i was working in a video store when the BDM came out, of course i didn't end up watching it until almost a year later once again a near miss with the Versey goodness.

Finally i watched it at the insistance of a customer who was probably a browncoat but i never learned if that was so, Mebane sound familiar to anyone?? What else can i say i watched the movie once, then with commentary because Joss is brilliant that way and i watched it again. Later on i caught the episodes so i was a fan. or maybe a flan if i was lucky.

Hard burn to 2008 i purchased Serenity as the Collector's Edition and the box set in a deal at Best Buy. idly browsing Itunes i found both "The Signal" and "Firefly Talk" That is when it truly hit. I work 3rd so i plugged them into my ipod and was carried away by versy goodness for a loooong time.

I finally decided to join the site and get more involved when i realized that CSTS featured not once but twice in my area seeing that there was a community there was no choice but to join

So for now biggests plans are to spend both days as a mini vacation in Raliegh at the CSTS screenings and from there who knows.

Sorry about the length folks didn't mean to carry on so.

[qoute] So, why do you write these strong female characters?

Because you're still asking me that question.

Well, here I am...in Norfolk Va, not much here but I follow the Raleigh stuff and hope to meet them. They're a fine bunch of reubens from what I can tell.

If you can find enough dedicated people in the area, then sure!

There are a metric buttload of Browncoats in the Charlotte area!

If you haven't stumbled across them yet they have a yahoo group

http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/Charlotte_Browncoats/

and a myspace page.
