Star Wars would be an obvious choice. But perhaps we should add a restriction of NO ALIENS to keep the browncoat ties strong.

Dead Presidents. Great flick about the down trodden disillusioned soldiers who find a way to utelize the funds slated for destruction. From the acting all the way down to the incredible soundtrack it mirrors the BDS in a lot of ways.

Shows how a small group of soldiers fights against the oppression of evil but ends up tapping into the ultimate evil of the time, the government is the actual oppressor demanding goods and services from the bantitos and supporting them with arms and immunity.

I wrote a blog about this, but I think NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN is a bit Browncoatish. Moss is very Jayneish in terms of facial hair, not much of a talker, resourceful and good with weapons. And him and Carla Jean together is like seeing Jayne and Kaylee as a couple. Chigur I think can easily beat The Operative in terms of ruthless efficiency and cold bloodedness. And the landscapes of the movie could easily fit into the 'verse.
I'd have loved to have seen an ep of FIREFLY in the style of Cormac McCarthy. Little to no dialogue, very violent and very bleak.

Since we're talking about Samurai, how about The Last Samurai? I usually loath Tom Cruise but this is a very good movie with a Browncoaty feel. A broken down soldier who doesn't really care about anything anymore finds a family and somthing worth fighting and dying for.

Loved the Magnificant Seven. As for The Last Samurai, Ken Wantabe's character fits better. He knows his cause is lost, yet he fights despite the odds. More than a bit of Mal in his character.
IMHO Wantanabe also acted circles around Cruise in that movie. I think he got a Best Actor nomination for it.
