Hello fellow Flans. I realise that waiting for the BDS to come out might take a while, I thought we might sit down and have a little discussion. I would like to see a movie with the following plot; A small group of individuals being pursued or oppressed by a large conglomerate of very nasty gouzaizi, the small group realizing that they are on their own decide to fight even thout there is a snowballs chance they could win. Then I came to a realization that we can have all the polls and letter writing parties and picket F*X till their blue in the face. They won't listen. They only listen to money. So lets talk to them.
Lets get a list of browncoatish movies together. Buy them, rent them, share them with our friends, just get the point across that these movies need to be made. Then we might have a chance to see our BIG DAMN SEQUEL while we are still alive.
MY first two picks are obvious and juvenile but they sould get the ball rolling in the right direction. The first is "The Pirates of the Caribbean, At Worlds End." the other one is "V for Vendetta". They both have that same thread of "We may be broken, but we will not bend." Look forwards to hearing from you.

I can accept the storyline to Final Fantasy 7 (game, not movie) entertaining and similar to the story of the BDH's.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender is an award-winning American animated television series that currently airs on the Nickelodeon television network.

Set in an Asian-influenced world of martial arts and elemental manipulation (earth,air,fire,water) the series follows the adventures of the latest of a long line of Avatars. Aang, and his friends in a quest to save the world from the ruthless Fire Nation.

Avatar: The Last Airbender debuted on TV on February 21, 2005. The show is also available on DVD or for download at the iTunes Store. There are over 50 episodes so far….

This is the best animated show I have ever seen……

The Chinese characters 降卋(世)神通 (pinyin:Jiàngshì Shéntōng)

that appear with the English logo translate to
"The divine medium who has descended upon the mortal world."

This is the 3rd season.. Check out this excellent show, I am so hooked on this show and I believe many browcoats would really like it.

The scene where Gelt is introduced actually had a lifestyle changing impact on me as a kid, showing me where the path I originally wanted to take in life ended, so I remember this one very fondly.

Hells yes. Avatar is the best animated show to come out of NorAm (even surpassing Gargoyles, which says a great deal). Most importantly, it's incredibly fun (a vital ingredient in and Firfly comparisons), blending drama, pathos, and wacky comedy at every turn.

Other series/movies I'd recommend are:

Fullmetal Alchemist; two brothers take on a corrupt dictatorship as they search for the Philosopher's Stone (and discover the secrets that surround the stone's creation, and the infiltration of the government). Also, it has a military squad who are almost as gloriously messed-up as our BDH. Roy Mustang is Mal.

Eureka 7; an anime series that centres on the good ship Gekko, an ex-military prototype and her crew of scoundrels, anarchists, nutcases, and outright weirdos, as they rebel against a fascist government and uncover a planet-wide conspiracy to rewrite human history. Mal & company would love these guys.

Also, it's a beautiful love story involving giant robots with surfboards.

Yes, giant robots with surfboards. It's as awesome as it sounds.

Speaking of wacky mecha, it may not be to everyone's taste, but Transformers: Animated is only 10 episodes old, and has already surpassed every previous Transformer series and the movie. Firefly-like? Well, it focuses on a group of five broken-down, under-equipped repair bots (only two of whom have actual military experience [well, one has military experience, the other attended the Academy, but never graduated]) who get in over their heads when they stumble across the Allspark, and become all that stands between it and the Decepticons.

Eventually, when the "real" Autobots (led by Ultra Magnus and the solid tritanium stick up his exhaust port) find them, they'll be in just as much trouble from them as from the 'cons.

Here's one I bet no one thought of... Silverado.

A small group takes on a corrupt sheriff and landowner without a chance of winning.

Scott Glenn is a dustier Mal. Kevin Costner is the crazy younger brother that can make impossible shots. Kevin Kline has to make the decision whether to be good or bad. Linda Hunt is the saloon owner with a heart of gold. And Danny Glover looks a bit like Jayne with ammo draped all over him and armed with his Daddy's Henry rifle. They aren't even half of the cast of stars.

Add a cattle stampede to rescue a little boy and it sounds something like Mal would dream up.

Definatly agree on these. Although I haven't seen Samurai 7, The Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven (aka the remake of 7 Sam.) are awesome. I assume that Samurai 7 is basically the same as the other two?

Since we're talking about Samurai, how about The Last Samurai? I usually loath Tom Cruise but this is a very good movie with a Browncoaty feel. A broken down soldier who doesn't really care about anything anymore finds a family and somthing worth fighting and dying for.

As for Anime, Cowboy Bebop may not have the plot you outlined but it has a feel of the 'verse to it.

The original 3:10 to Yuma is good if you can deal with a movie that's 99% dialogue.
