Somewhat vague idea - 'The fake fall caper'

This is an idea I've been toying with, thought I'd share it out to see what people think or maybe let it go to a good home if somebody else wants to run with it.

There's a bit that I think was cut from the script of 'Trash', where Inara and Zoe start talking about Zoe's appointments, and end up discussing 'faked falls.' (From context, 'fall' a companion term for the big O.) Zoe confesses that she only ever 'did that' once, with Wash, but Wash knew and let Zoe know that he knew.

Inara: That's the one you marry.
Zoe: Damn right.

So, that got me to thinking of a scenario. Inara and Mal are together, he wants to marry her and have her leave the guild, but he doesn't think that she's ready for that yet. He confides in Zoe, she remembers that conversation, and the two of them set out to contrive a similar situation between Inara and Mal!

Whatcha think?

Nope. Refer back to OMR, Inara and Saffron before Inara is knocked out - Inara points out she cannot be played. Zoe and Mal could not pull off a scam on Inara unless Inara was compliant. And that would wound their future relaionship.

I agree. It seems to me that IF Zoe and Mal were to conspire to create this situation (which seems a little out of character for Zoe), all it would do is confirm for Inara that Mal's NOT ready. Inara would likely a) see through it almost immediately and b) be saddened by it.

It could actually make for a pretty interesting tale, but I see it as more tragic than helpful. "This is what you have to resort to? How can we possible have a future together?"

Mal will eventually mess up any relationship he has with Inara. I don't think they are by any means off limits.

He'll do something thoughtless, she'll get hurt. He’ll apologize, etc

He is already knocking at her door (TLB) after their confrontation in the mess, about him NOT taking her where she needs to go.
