It's been like a million years since I posted here. Good to see plenty of the originals still here. :)

Anyway, I'm sure this has to have been covered before, but I couldn't find it. What's going on with Firefly coming to Blu-Ray? I keep seeing it is on Amazon, but nothing ever happens with it.

Since the Warner Bros/Netflix decisions to back Blu-Ray (and now I see my local Best Buy has cut the HD-DVD shelf space in half, and doubled the Blu-Ray section to three aisles), they can't be waiting for the format war to end.

Does this call for a bit of petitioning like we did (unsuccessfully) in the old days? Seriously, I think we could actually win this one.

Stay Shiny!

Bad Ass!!!!

If this is released on Blu-Ray I'd buy it in a second.

I have Serenity in HD, and all I can say of the difference between standard, and HD dvd is...umm, there is no comparison. The HD version is world's better!

I look forward to when the final format of blu-ray is in. I hear that blu-ray 2 is going to be the final version so stave the interest to buy a blu-ray player. Instead purchase a ps3, it handles both formats and is much more accessable, however, the blu-ray controls are impossible. I find it difficult to easily browse the dvd.

Good of you to drop in on this little rim o'

the 'Verse...Hey , you don't LOOK that old !

Yepper , we covered this before...Recently ,

even...I figure just adding it to your Amazon

'Wish List' might get it done...It's also listed

on the Target.com website , but it's by way of

Amazon anyway...Sure looks Shiny! , too...

Those bungers at the notorious 'F-network' should

all hail the visionary Joss , for having the

cojones to film Firefly in a high-aspect HD

format ! Means a LOT more shiny coin to be

made , don'cha think ?

Well, it was only filmed on film which has then been upconverted to HD. It may need extensive work to reach 1080p quality.

I did as well, until I picked up the Blu-Ray remote that Sony sells. This makes it MUCH easier to browse/control DVD's and Blu-Ray discs. Well worth the 20 bucks!

I thought film has a MUCH higher resolution than 1080p though?

hmmm I don't know about all this. I watched some Firefly on an HD TV with just an upscaling DVD player and I didn't like it at all. It was too crisp. The verse is supposed to be gritty and imperfect. The super crisp picture sorta took away from that feel for me. I don't think I'd ever buy Firefly in HD as long as the DVDs are available.

The Universal HD Network has Firefly in HD already. IOW, the series has already been converted to HD. As a matter of fact, Firefly is going to be shown as a regular Series on UniHD this coming March.

Here's the network's home page http://www.universalhd.com/
And Here's the Firefly Message Board http://boards.nbcuni.com/universalHD/index.php?showforum=4

It'll happen eventually, but it's a bit early in the life of the format for them to be filling some of the smaller niches in the market - and like it or not, we're a niche. Very few series sets have come out on BR yet (compared to DVD). They still don't have a lot of the current hit shows on BR, so a much-beloved, but sadly cult-level show, is probably not a high priority.
