This was supposed to be a major holdiay for this month. But eventually President's Day won out.
I'd call it natural holiday selection...but we all know that GOD has mandated we celebrate our nation's Presidents...not so-called scientists and their monkey love.

I give them both 50/50. And that goes for the both of them being true too. Nothing in evolution that proves to me that God does or doesn't exist. Even Citizen will tell you that.
The platapus is God showing his sense of humor. Mammals that have a duck bill and lay eggs... that'll really screw with the scientist bastards heads.
Then he gave witch burning to the historians to figure out.

Of course not, that's never been the point. There's only a tiny minority of pro-evolution people who would make that claim and they are be dismissed by the rest of us as stepping outside the bounds of science in their statements.

Not really. It's strange certainly, probably at the highest edge of the strangeness scale but there's plenty of other strangeness available in the world. In fact Australia as a whole doesn't have much in the way of fossils apparently so the evolutionary history of most Australian species is fairly obscure.

I just can't help but giggle at the mental image of god going all over the world 6000 years ago with a bunch of dinosaur-foot stamps and making all those tracks everywhere, all just to confound the scientist bastard heads. Kinda like the bigfoot hoax guys, only god does it with dinosaurs.
I know Bushie believes the world really is only 6000 years old, but where does he think oil (also called "fossil fuels") comes from? Did god make oil becuse he knew one day we'd invent the Escalade, and need shitloads of it?

No. God made oil because he knew we'd invent the Dodge Viper.

I actually have a half written story about that very theme. Funny.... I never thought of it as being comical before... It's actually very dark and a little scary. Perhaps humor is what it was missing. I will have to re-think the story and see if that works better.
I also give the possibility of all that 50/50 too. Either way, I don't believe in predetermination at all, so no, I don't believe that if there is a God he put oil in the earth knowing that we would make a Dodge Viper, but he would have put it there probably cause he was bored and wanted to see what we'd come up with.
And fred, for Christsake... I know you have a sense of humor cause you can make a joke (see: Dodge Viper above). The platypus was the best I could come up with last night. If anything, I figured you'd jump on me for the witch burning first.

So can I quote you as saying that you believe Dawkins to be as big an asshole as I believe the late Falwell to have been?
Bridging the gap.

Where'd you come up with that? I'll bet there's plenty of strangeness in the Land of Oz. But there's also plenty of fossils. Trust an old rock hound there are LOTS!

Double post. But I do mean LOTS and LOTS of fossils.

Just what I've heard, never been there and not a digger myself so if I'm wrong I'm wrong.

Well when it comes from you I start from the default that you are serious and try and tell if you are joking from the tone, unfortunately the joking tone didn't come through on that post.

Not hardly, he's kind of dick when it comes to theology but not as bad IMO as people like Falwell. Not only do I not think he's as much of a dick but he also has a much smaller and less gullible audience for his dickery.
Personally I kinda wish that Dawkins had stuck with science and left theology to others, Dawkins is a good writer of pop biology and his push for atheism has most likely pushed religious people on the fence about evolution away from his books.
