OK, so DTH gets kudos points for being aware of Portal guns, and yes, personal transports across the world would be awesome.
Nearly done with another boring day etc, looking forward to washing up fun followed by maths

ooh maths:)
10) e is less challenging to spell than pi.
9) e ~=2.718281828459045, which can be easily memorized to its billionth place, whereas pi needs "skills" to be memorized.
8) The character for e is so cheap that it can be found on a keyboard. But pi is special (it's under "special symbols" in word processor programs.)
7) Pi is the bigger piece of pie.
6) e has an easy limit definition and infinite series. The limit definition of pi and the infinite series are much harder.
5) e you understand what it is even though you start learning it late when you're in pre-calculus. But pi, even after five or six years it's still hard to know what it really is.
4) People mistakenly confuse Euler's Number (e) with Euler's Constant (gamma). There is no confusion with the one and only .
3) e is named after a person, but pi stands for itself.
2) Pi is much shorter and easier to say than "Euler's Number".
1) To read pi, you don't have to know that Euler's name is really pronounced Oiler.

I blame browsing the 'Graphic Violence' comic book forum at Penny Arcade and a younger brother who got the orange box for Christmas.
MSB: Um... isn't maths supposed to have... numbers?

True. But John Moses Browning had something to do with it too.
His concept was to build a side arm with knock down power, easy to operate, durable, and easy to maintain. Little did I know (after a summer project) how true of a genius the man was. The entire weapon (model 1911) can be stripped by hand using various parts of the weapon as a tool. BRILLIANT!
After I completed the project I realized how he and his team worked on the thing. He handed off some (but not all) of the engineering to them. Numbers were crunched and turned until it was determined that they had the best possible outcome.
So yeah, teh mathz really did have a ton to do with it. But the imagination had nearly as much. I just can't fully appreciate teh mathz because I can't fully comprehend.
I think anger makes my ten friends work and since teh mathz angers me then yes, they have something to do with it.
