I noticed how the episode 'Ariel' had made an emphasis on the color red.As in when River cuts Jayne with the knife and says he looked btter in that color. Including the device the two agents used to bleed their victims to death. This helped come to the conclusion that River hates the color red. She also shows this same hatred in the comic book when River while referring to his red shirt, said to mal that she never liked that color on him.Why does she hate this color so much? Is it because she hates the Independence?

The Hand of Blue deathstick is blue.
River hates Blue Sun. She slashed Jayne's Blue Sun shirt and said he looked better in red.
Hating the color red on Mal? Not sure. Maybe she doesn't like to see him angry. Maybe she just doesn't think it's a very flattering color.
And hating red would have nothing to do with hating the Independents. The Independents wore brown. (well, some red, too, but they were, after all, called 'Browncoats')![]()
I don't think that being cautiously ashamed, or selectively ashamed, or in any way ashamed of who I am is any way to live my life.

I never understood the red vests as part of the Browncoats uniform. It screams "Here I am".

Well maybe they wear red to avoid friendly fire, with what you see of combat in Firefly, battle lines aren't always clearly drawn (Except for Zoe's story about the apples, where they are indeed in trenches). As for River not liking the color red, I have no clue.

Does she hate red? I don't really think so. There's a red shirt in the show that she wears that I think of as a signature River piece. I believe it most notable in the episode Safe. If she really disliked red, T son't think she would have worn it the entire episode and in others.
When she slashed Jayne's shirt I always thought it was about the shirt having the Blue Sun logo on it.
Red is a major emotional color though. It can be warm or angery. The color of fire and blood. It can mean life or death. I'm not surprised it shows up as a thematic element now and then.

Op: You're fighting a war you've already lost.
Mal: Yeah, well I'm known for that.
