Hey Ray,
I got my BDCE's to my firefighters on Dec.26th, Denver station #24. I didn't get any picures, sorry,...but the BDH's were happy to have it and I asked if they had heard of FF/S, and they all said yes that knew about Firefly, told them thanks for being our BDH's and running in the burning building when all the rest of us are running out. I got to do some more, such a good feeling to do something so simple.
Thanks Ray for being the inspiration.

Aww... Thanks, FillyGirl!
Just bein' a Browncoat, best way I know how. But, it'd be awfully lonely without other Browncoats, such as yourself, to take up the cause, and, make something out of an idea. Thank YOU.

No takers?
Looks like I get the honor, unless somebody else wants to jump in and send these fine smoke-eaters some shiny Browncoat goodness.
Bueller? Bueller?

Hey Ray,
If you haven't sent the package on to the BDH's in Ontario, I'll be happy to do so. Let me know and I'll start wrapping STAT.

Thanks, Traevynn! The ball is now firmly in your court. I was gonna handle this, if no one else did, but, finances are summat tighter, right now, than usual, so, your intervention is timely and welcome.
Thanks for bein' a BDH, your own self!
Stay shiny!

Just a bumpy, li'l reminder that this has gone from what was originally conceived as a limited campaign, it has grown to become a perennial effort, limited only by the number of fire stations out there.
(Reposted)
Every community, in the US and pretty much anywhere else I can think of, has at least one fire station, most of them manned 24 hours. The firefighters there are real life Big Damn Heroes, but, aside from the occasional tragic occurrence, don't get much recognition for looking out for every one of us, all the time. As such, they spend a lot of time waiting for trouble to arise, and, between station-house duties and calls, have a good amount of time on their hands.
Firefighters deserve the chance to become Browncoats. Likely, many already are, but, many more are not.
That's where "Firefly for Firefighters" comes in.
Local Browncoat groups can get together, pitch in to buy sets of the Firefly Series and Serenity CE DVDs, and, make a gift of them to their local staffed fire stations. Together, the DVDs cost less than $40.00US, so, a group of ten Browncoats would only have to contribute about $4 individually, per fire station.
I propose that we all do our best to get these two DVDs into the hands of as many firefighters as possible. Locate all the fire stations in your community, figure out your budget for sufficient DVDs, then, you might want to call the stations to let them know that your group wants to come visit and make a gift to the station DVD library.
When you do make your visit, it would be a great opportunity to establish ties with the firefighters, there. Many stations are involved in other charitable causes, and, might welcome the assistance of our enthusiastic numbers, when they do their own fundraisers or fire safety awareness events. It wouldn't hurt, at all, to offer that assistance, especially if you have an organized group in need of a purpose.
Be sure, assuming it's alright with the firefighters, to get some pictures, when you visit. Please, post 'em here, let us see your local BDHs!
This is not only a great thing to do for the firefighters, but, it also gets the signal out. You know what happens when folks watch Firefly. A good many smokin' Browncoats could arise from this, and, we'd make 'em very welcome! You might also include a flyer with contact info for your local Browncoat group, or, for this forum, in case they want to follow up on their new-found passion.
Come on, Browncoats! We are many, and, these folks are everywhere! Won't cost more'n a couple bucks, each, for most of us with friends, and, the benefits will be lasting. Also, many 'Coats have taken to include video-viewing munchies with their DVDs (i.e., microwave popcorn, "Fruity Oaty Bars," snack cakes...), making care packages for the firefighters. I can tell you, once they get over their surprise, the smoke-eaters can be surprisingly grateful!
Love is what keeps her in the air... All our love.

Thanks for the reminder, Ray, especially with the charity screening coming up in a few short weeks. I'm thinking we'll send some goodies to our local heroes for Serenity Forever/Equality Now.
Never did hear if Ontario got the package I sent but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we converted a few more folk to the 'Verse.
