Hey gang,

Started a new thread on this cos the old one was getting a bit huge. Anyhoo, the model is coming along well, and I've started to texture it. Only I suck at textures.

If any of you are good with GIMP or Photoshop, I could use some help. When this model is complete, it'll be released into the wild as a free download. Maybe someone could use it to make Machinima episodes, or to generate virtual sets for a live action fanfilm.

Here's how it looks so far.

How is this progressing?
I'm (trying to) work on a firefly fan film using "the movies"...and it would ROCK not having to do everything from scratch.

Wow, very cool. Just writing to lend my support, if only in voice. Somewhat inspiring. One could say - "There's life in the old girl yet!"
P.S - What program does this? Someone mentioned "Hammer?"

Cheers!

It's only dead if it stops bleeding.

Well, it's not dead exactly, but it's certainly in stasis. I am currently involved in keeping the wolf from the door, which at the moment eats all my time.

Hammer is a modelling tool that comes with Half Life 2. The idea behind building the model inside a game instead of just being a model is that in theory when it's all done, you could walk around the inside of Serenity.

I still need to build the Bridge and the Crew Quarters, and I need to rebuild the passenger dorms because they're tricky and they don't really work right now.

Also the model has gotten a bit large and no longer runs on machines with less than 2GB of RAM. I'm looking at ways to improve this, but she's a big ship - nearly 200 feet long.
