HK, you need to put something that fits the cute theme in here. Try a kitten or a bunny or a hamster, since you have trouble with the concept. Surely even you can find a cute pic of any of those things on Google

Well, I just don't think it's fair to say that I'm "missing the entire point of the threads." I posted in the first pic thread there ever was on these boards, and I've posted in nearly every one since. I even got myself a nice, shiny "cam companion" certificate to verify the fact! (Thanks, PR!
) It kinda hurts that you'd even say that, but I'll chalk that up to the HK-ish gruffness. But with all due respect to you (after all, you're something of an institution in the pic threads), my point is this: this is not, nor has it ever been, a place to post "meaningless images." The mere fact that Gorramgroupie posted an image that is neither of him or by him is nothing more than many of the rest of us have done at one point or other (most notably our beloved JonnyQuest). Of course, I do want to point out that I'm total agreement with you that we don't want the boards to become a pic dump for gak we've found on the net. Nobody wants that, myself included. But I don't think the way to accomplish that is by instituting rules for the threads. We're on our 70th pic thread, and not a one has devolved into a place to post "random bullshit images." We've done just fine regulating ourselves. Why would we need to establish hard and fast rules? That just doesn't seem like the kind of community we are.________________________________________________________________________

OK let's just agree to try and make sure that we mostly post us with exceptions when it's funny or relevant... does that seem fair? I don't think we need rules...we've gotten along thus far without any and I think just enjoying each other and our images is good...

We are not "establishing hard and fast rules."
The REQUEST that you try to stick to your own photos - be they of you or by you - was just that: a REQUEST.
It was made to stem the tide of "meaningless bullshit images" - exemplified by, most notably, your beloved JonnyQuest - to let new people know, for there are several here, now, that we're not looking for images that anyone with the ability to search Teh Intarwub could find. This particular "game" we're conducting is quite susceptible to the very thing we both want to avoid.
That's it and that's all.

I simply made a request, not a hard and fast rule. No one's objected to requests or suggestions hence far. Other threads have been filled with many random images, but that's not the point of the ongoing picture threads. As you say, there are 70-ish of them now. Guess who started at least 60 of those? Respect my authoritah!
