Yeah, I think there was a previous pondering thread with the same title. But see, this one has a video link to a decent performance. Yay!

OK now to ponder... What is the best or most important skill you ever learned and why??

I'd say for me it was the skill to observe behavior and figure out how to help... since I use it daily:)

Great, now Cyndi lauper is running around my brain, rolling in sand and singing. Thanks. (JK)

On the Ponder:
the best skill I ever learned is to kick things to the back of my brain, roll it around, and come up with solutions "intuitivly". Works pretty good most of the time, except when I 'm trying to figure out my wife. That takes a special skill!
"Yes dear, you are right, I am wrong, why don't I go do some dishes while you take a nap?"

She truly is great. Check out the links when you get the chance. She looks great in these more recent performances. Seems she doesn't much want to be remembered for the selling out she did back in the day and is actually one hell of an artist who need to be recognized for the creativity and heart she posesses.

Yeah, I *heart* Cyndi even if I lose dude points for it.

Oh yeah, the ponder. Skillz. I got 'em. Didn't know 'til someone confirmed. The End.

Can't really say she sold out, she was always on the edge and doing her own thing. Remember She-bop? That one got past everyone, until the video came out.... hehe. And she really is very talented, and I will have to go with the "heart" thingy too, and screw the dude points.

Saw an interview some where that she said she sold out. Worst thing she did. But everything happened so fast that by the time she realized she had a say in what she was going to do it was too late. Regardless she came back, not in the force she once posessed but in a much better one. Her creativity was always there, it was just stifled by the money people pushing for something she didn't want anymore. Still love her tons and yeah, screw the dude points. I also really dig Jewel and Gwen Stefani. (Thinks his official dude card might get pulled) Oh well. I was looking for a good squabble.

Oh, I don't want to take any or die or anything (overall, when looked at properly, my life is going pretty well), it's just something I think about. What would it taste like? Is there any way for me to know and tell about it, or would taking the poisonous parts out distort the flavor? Would it make a good salad? Cyanide was just another logical step in the "What does it taste like?" thought pattern.

I guess I lucked out on that one, my wife thinks the Lifetime movies, soaps, etc are just a waste of time, if not downright laughable.

We got snow, for almost 2 days straight. Yay!!!! I drove past an elementary school on my way to work, and there were at least 5, 3 foot high balls in the yard. I miss those days. Nah. Fringe benefits of being adult make up for the lack of responsability.

Watched Pirates 3 last night. I enjoyed it, fun movie. Partial sentences. No verb. parts of speech missing. Like thought processes.

Lets see... 3:10 To Yuma and War were all rented out last night so I ended up watching Death Sentance with Kevin Bacon and The Kingdom with Jamie Foxx. Both flicks, pure fantasy. Can't say I particularly liked or disliked them, but the mindless moments of blowing shit up and mowing folks down with automatic weapons really made for a brainless relaxing evening.

NVG: "Picture" was an abberation -- that's my story...
So if I don't think much of the Lifetime channel, am I losing chick points? (My students think I'm abberation -- I have no cable tv).

RIMG: *hugs* I hope the blues go away soon for you. (I've got nothing on the taste question, but properly prepared 'awa/kava tasts a bit peppery...)

Quote:

I watched so much Lifetime with Ami, I can watch a Lifetime Original movie and within 5 minutes tell you the ending. *shudder*

Yikes! *comforting hug* Now that's something I'd....umm...yeah...*wonders if the deduction of chick points can be done as a substitution for RIMG's suffering*

Zeek: Sure, just make sure that you have the proper lesson plan, align them to the subject's standards, et cetera, et cetera...

Good movies? Most recent one that I got was the re-visioned Masked Rider movie -- Kamen Raida: The First. Nothing truly like the original series (and I adored those), but taking it as a updated re-visioning, it was really fun to watch. Makes me wonder what the Kamen Raida V3 re-vision (I've already seen a figure for that one) is going to look like...That and Tampopo, which is no longer in print -- I actually bought both DVDs...

[ edit] Okay, looked up the second DVD for the re-visioned Kamen Raida -- Kamen Raida: The Next. *drool* *makes a note on DVD wish list as soon as it makes its way out to the States (not that I'm holding my breath or anything)*

Well, my year is full of petty frustrations, so I have to say that the new year so far isn't half bad. The wife and I have actually been able to spend some time alone, talking and just being together. That's been nice. Also, my newlywed(about a year) bro-in-law and wife are expecting, so I get another little relative to twist!!! MWWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I WILL be crowned the wierd uncle yet!

oh what kinds of casseroles are you making? You always describe food so well.

Last night I made a spaghetti one. Spaghetti with sauce, mushrooms, onions, pepperoni and covered in mozzarella cheese. Mmmm good dinner with plenty of left overs.

mornin Imponderables.

If you think her casseroles are good, your should have her make her steak topping for you. Bleu-cheese, chives, and sage, on top of a fresh, medium-rare to rare steak, mmmmm. My roommates and I ate good that night. Maybe someday she'll cook for me again, as she never got around to the main yummies that I was promised.

*whistles* Here CK CK CK. *whistles*

If you're looking to get Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the wii I recommended preordering from Walmart.com ASAP. They are either running an insane deal and selling it for $20 or it's a total price mistake. Either way I put in my order and if they decide it's a mistake I'll just cancel. It sure doesn't seem like that's just a deposit either. Since their other preorders are full price.

So that plus bioshock for $25 at target yesterday and my week is looking up.

Oh and it's Friday. Yay! Even though I did just now receive an email saying my new work laptop just shipped. Ugh I was hoping it shipped the day it was approved and might get here today. Not just started shipping today.

Eh I was off my gaming addiction for a good long while before I picked up a wii. I didn't really miss it that much. Now I'm upgrading my computer too and that's why I picked up bioshock. 5 year old computer couldn't really cut it for any gaming these days.

walmart corrected the price on super smash brothers. I think it's only a matter of time before they cancel all the orders. Considering the price mistake made it all the way to digg I think they probably have a million or so orders to cancel. You just know some people ordered 100 to sell on ebay.

I just had an awesome surprise unbirthday celebration that I wanted when myGeek was here(1)...Only thing that could top that right now would be to have made the shindig a bigger one -- to include the friends and family that couldn't/weren't there (including my fellow 'coats...) -- and having/knowing myGeek would be sticking around (instead of "just visiting")....

(1) It was a surprise -- to my friends . *shrug* I had promised them that I'd hold an unbirthday when: a) they least expected it, and b) when myGeek was here. Not my fault they didn't realize it from the moment that I introduced myGeek to them . 'Course it was funny to hear the reactions later.

I think I probably have a warped view of birthdays. As a kid it always seemed like my birthday was sorta a tack on to christmas and it wasn't really a big celebration. Which sorta irked me when my brother's birthday rolled around and all of a sudden there was a big to do. Plus for about a 4 year stretch my mom's company always had their yearly planning convention on my bday so my mom wasn't even in town.

So, basically now I'm warped and don't consider my birthday to be anything interesting. In fact I almost choose not to plan anything to avoid any disappointment. Though I can't say there's anything I particularly would have liked to do this year. Even my Dad was like "well why aren't you getting your friends to go out to a fancy restaurant or something". "Because I'd hate it" (in my head). "Maybe next year" (out loud).

Basically I made the spaghetti casserole previously mentioned and watched some Firefly. Watched Out Of Gas because it's Simon's birthday. Seemed fitting. Plus it's one of my favorites.

Oh and as for gifts I got two pairs of jeans, a dressy shirt, a Serenity ornament and I'm guessing some dvds from my Dad. He's running a bit behind schedule.

MsB: MyGeek flew here to spend time with me and with all the touristy-ish things we did...I think of the whole time as a hella good present. (Still has me smiling...see what you did?! I'm grinning like a moonbrain at work -- thank goodness no one can see me. )

Edit: Zeek -- While I can't say I feel the same about mine (that day and the days leading up to it give me huge amounts of stress*), I do agree. That's why I started celebrating an unbirthday. Makes it even more fun 'cause there's no need to stick to a specific day each year -- and if I'm in no mood to celbrate the whole year, welp, 's why it's called a "surprise unbirthday" for a reason.

Edit II: Just a suggestion -- you could call it something else to them, potluck picnic/dinner, "Oscar Night" (yeah, I've got friends who love to get together on the night of Oscars and see who guesses the most winners), or an "I just feel like having friends over for dinner" deal. *shrug* (I don't even bother trying to recruit them as browncoats since my tastes seems to constantly run 90 to 180 degrees from theirs.) If that doesn't work for you either, no big. Just my 0.02 plat...

*Things always seem to never go smooth 'round that time for me. If it's a good year, then by the next week things are back to fairly smooth. If it's a really bad year, that's when the go-se really starts flying for the year.

No thanks. Parties just ain't my style. I seriously couldn't come up with anything that I wanted my friends to do. No good movies out. Tired of trying to make them into browncoats (it just is not in the cards). Going out to eat always seems like a huge waste to me. It's more expensive than just making something myself. It takes a long time. Usually the food doesn't impress me anyway.

This is why I usually try to keep people in the dark that my birthday is even approaching. It's just difficult to explain that I really don't want to do anything with them to celebrate. I either come off as a jerk who doesn't enjoy their company (which I guess is sorta true) or they think I'm full of it and keep pushing until I give in and spend the night doing something I don't want to do. I know I'm weird but still I'd rather be weird and happy than weird and upset cause I'm trying to act like I'm somebody I'm not.

Birthdays always seemed strange for me but not for others. I like going to parties as long as they aren't mine. I don't even remember my last birthday for some reason. Maybe this year I'll do something memorable for a change.

Oh yeah. I went and had some free drinks via "She" then saw 300 then went back for a wasted evening at the local meat market, something I said I would never do. I didn't forget, I blocked it out. I do have to say that being an Aries and seeing 300 on the big screen for your birthday is almost a surreal experience.

I'm fine with silly gifts. My mom is the queen of silly gifts.

Though people should only use silly gifts if they know how to use them. My now step dad may be the worst silly gift giver ever. When I graduated he gave me this craptacular chocolate champaign bottle thing. Now I have to assume he never even bother to ask my mom about it or he'd have heard that I don't really care for candies or chocolate. I think it was supposed to be a replacement for real champaign cause I don't really drink. Then one year he got my brother and his fiance tickets to see wicked downtown chicago. What did he get me? A picture of a bunch of warning signs he saw once and thought was pretty funny in a picture frame that must have come from the half dollar store cause the thing can't be moved without falling apart. I'm glad he married my mom so she can just add his name to gifts she picks out.

I'm keeping those and his insulting motivational plaque about integrity for an ebay auction/rant someday in the distant future. I figure that will give me at least some enjoyment out of the terrible ideas. I mean even if it's the thought that counts those clearly did not involve much thought.

OK I'm out for the weekend folks. Have a good one.
