Serenity novelization

I know novelizations are based on scripts rather than actual movies and that novelizations are sometimes very different from the movie if the script has undergone major changes. How consistent is the Serenity novelization with movie? I know it includes most or all of the movie's deleted scenes as well as some flashback scenes from the series. Does it have any information that doesn't exist anywhere else?

It's pretty faithful to the original script (deleted scenes included). It does have a few background things--

The Operative personally destroying Haven and ordering Book's death, for example

But overall, it covers the movie pretty faithfully (

except that it apparently skips a few pages during the space battle over Mr. Universe's world

In fact, Nathan commented that he'd read the novelization and thought it had a pretty good explanation for the ending of the last Mal/Op battle...
