Howdy there ya'll, I just saw the series for the first time yesterday...well its a day later, and my new coat is of a dusty brown shade...ifin ya'll see my meanin...so I tip my hat to ya'll folks in everlovin greetin.
That said, I'm a feelin we need to move on to business...I live in Lakeland Florida on Earth That Was...its a town not unlike some of the outlying moons if you see my meanin. well I got to say, that Firefly is a might fine show, and it got me to thinkin I'd like to do more than just watch the show...it would please me a might bit o' power if ya'll fine folk could give me some kind of job to do down here in our little town (now I sits right between Orlando and Tampa and can easily get to either ifin ya'll got somthing a slight bigger in mind) ...I aint meanin fer ya'll to pay me in credits, just bring back my beloved series, tell me them tales, and play me that sweet git'taur music...
The Lord knows I could barely spare the credits that it took to buy the DVDs so I cant really donate money right now, but The Lord also knows I can work, I can talk, and generally make noisey ruckus (I also write) or what ever else you might need to be done...but seriously if there is anything ANYTHING I can do to help the browncoats, on or off-line please PLEASE yall give me a holler. much obliged.

there's no place that I can be...now I've found Serenity

Happy New Year and welcome to our part of the 'verse.

The best thing you can do is spread the word.
Tell your family, your friends, your neighbours, the people down the road....the stranger standing on the corner looking shifty....err....maybe not that one.

Show them a couple of episodes if need be. Tie them up to do it if that's what it takes, (they'll thank you later).
They'll then be hooked themselves and you can persuade them to buy the series and more importantly the BDM (i.e. the Big Damn Movie, i.e. Serenity Collectors Edition). And if you haven't got this yourself then it should be your next purchase when you have credits.

Then pray to whatever Gods, Devils, Demons or studio executives you worship for a sequel.

S'all for now.
Welcome again.

Welcome aboard, Larry.

One thing you can do is go and meet your new Captain. Nathan Fillion will be at the FX Con in Orlando later this month.

If you have not yet seen Serenity, the movie not the pilot episode, then you should try to find "Those Left Behind," a graphic novel from Joss and Brett Matthews, which covers events between the show and film. It is available in trade paperback and also hardcover, and you can find it at amazon.com or most comic shops.

There are also visual companion books, two volumes for the series and one for the movie, which include full scripts and tons of background information, interviews with cast and crew, beautiful artwork on concept design and props, etc.

This is a real shiny 'verse you've just entered, hope you plan to stay a while.

Welcome, welcome Larry! If you're so inclined you can join us and vote once an hour for Firefly as the best TV show ever at richlabonte.net/tvvote.com. It may not mean a thing but it's something to do! Also check out the 76th Independent Army Battalion; group of us marched at the big science fiction convention in Atlanta last summer and had a ball! We're always recruiting and eager to continue growing. I never saw the series when it was on the air but after viewing the DVD's and the movie, "Serenity" I was hooked beyond measure. I cannot believe that such an amazing program was not given a chance and I hope that someday a smart network will recognize this incredible jewel and bring it back. Again, welcome to the obsession, spread the word, and hold, hold until Firefly comes back.

Welcome!
There was a thread once upon a time to let new Browncoats know where they can find goodies....
oh here it is:
http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=15816

The comic books (published by Dark Horse) are wonderful,
the first series is out in trade paper back and hardback...
and the second series should start (one per month) sometime soon....
(it will be set during the TV show 'Firefly' and will be titled Better Days)

anyway, Welcome, enjoy yourself....
you might find some Florida Browncoats who get together (many areas have active groups)

I'm not sure if anyone is still doing this, but a little while back, someone came up with the brilliant idea to send postcards to Universal Studios in hopes of a sequel to Serenity, the movie.

The idea was that we would buy officially licensed wavecards from Quantum Mechanix Inc. so the money would go to Universal, then on the cards we politely ask for a sequel. You can go to quantummechanix.com and pick up a pack of 25 cards and try your hand, if ya like, but as I said before, I'm pretty sure the barrage of cards has ceased (we figured if we all sent 'em at the same time, we'd make more of an impact).

Otherwise, as others have said, buy as many copies of the Serenity: Collector's edition as possible! I don't usually buy collector's editions of films I already own, but, trust me, Serenity is well worth it - and every collector's edition sold is one small step toward a sequel.

We appreciate the help, and...:ahem: ::open's closet door and hands Larry a browncoat:: There, now it's official!

Welcome aboard!

Welcome home, TISL! You're #29483 to sign
on here and I can see some of the crew have
been giving you a fine welcome.

It's not complete without food. Never.
Here's a box of berries, recently "found"
on a Shepherd I ran across on Boros.
And a crate of the finest Mudder's Milk.
Have a mug!

Then it's up to the galley to question the
buffet: hot cheese, shimmerwine, mangos...
Ice-planets are in the cooler, bottom shelf
(chocolate and vanilla until re-supply).

Please do not step on ShipsCat or into her
dish.
