'k - got an email from my sister that my mom, who I just got back from visiting for christmas - had collapsed. Called her house this morning and my stepdad answered saying she had a 'bad night' and wouldn't walk but was sleeping. I told him I'd call a little later to see how she was (they're in a different time zone). Tried calling my sister - no answer at her house; stepdad had told me he was going to call my sister and her husband and have them come over to see mom. Now...can't get either of them on the phone leading me to surmise that they've taken mom to a hospital or something. They don't have cellphones and I don't know the city they live in to try and find the closest hospital to call. Tried to go to work but just couldn't and I'm sitting here worried sick. oh, my husband is still in denver with his mom; he's supposed to get home tonite but with the snow/cold and general unpleasantness he could be delayed, too. I'm about ready to get back in my car and start driving back to mom's house - 9 to 10 hours away....so it's a bad day until I here otherwise...vump

Not knowing what city they're in is just about the worst part, since it keeps you from even finding out what's going on. If you know the state, I wonder if there might be a general emergency admissions database any hospital could check for you?
