Hi all,

Could someone tell me who it is that sings the theme to Firefly. I have the eps on tape but the credits were always wiped out by Sci Fi in favour of ads for the following program.

Anyone know?

The Firefly theme ("The Ballad of Serenity") is performed by Sonny Rhodes, the self-proclaimed "Disciple of the Blues". He's recorded over 200 songs in the last 37 years. By the way, his real name is Clarence Smith, if you need that too.

Is this the guy who performs "The Hero of Canton" in "Jaynestown"?? Or, am I totally off?

I'm afraid you're totally off.

Sonny Rhodes is African American. The singer was not, and according to the fan transcript is named Ronald Craig Williams.

But I always thought it would be fun in a future episode/movie to have the gang in a bar with Sonny Rhodes singing. Then as they leave the bar, he starts a new song: "Take my love..."
