Me, too. Not only do we have the disappointment of DROM mutating into...something else, but we can't even grieve/vent/discuss it without being jumped on or snarked at. ARGGHH. Heaven forbid we should have complaints; that must mean we're eeeeeeeeeevil.

(I like MikeJoe, generally, but there are plenty of moments when I'd just like to smack him upside the head. And then there are a couple others I could smack most of the time... )

Now, with everything else being uprooted -- Farscape and Witchblade being just the most recent casualties -- it's so hard not to feel bittersweet everytime I watch or think of Firefly. I love the show so much already, and each episode is better and better, and yet I'm constantly wondering if this one will be the last episode we ever get to see.

Believe me, I'm taping them all. (I was so bummed when I couldn't get the beginning of "Bushwhacked" due to a VCR programming glitch. Hope they re-air it so I can tape the whole thing again.) And believe me, if we're so very lucky as to ever get these on DVD -- I'll be buying a DVD player, finally...

Hi Cardie! Hi Rhea! Hi CoolGhoul! Hi all Drom refugees! LOL!

Yep. I've been lurking here tentatively - I'm afraid to commit to Firefly! Drom was my first big fandom thing - first online community involvement, etc... and it's breaking my heart.

I just don't know if I can do it again!

QT! Nice to see you here! Sure you can do it.

Just think of it as Slipstream with less angst.

I agree, but I don't plan on giving up on Andromeda just yet. Besides, it is hard to give up on Andromeda, especially when you've been watching it and building a site on it almost weeks before it's release. I heard about Andromeda in April from Lady Maigrey's site. Then I heard about it on some other site, which I have forgotten the name and address to. I will admit that Andromeda's opener wasn't that lively or interesting, but it wasn't INCREDIBLY BAD either. The next ep, 302, is supposed to be very good and has some good reviews from viewers who've seen it in Canada. So, I'm sticking to it for the long run.

I'm still slipstreaming, SoC.

I may not be watching the show any more, but I'm not planning on giving up my SS friends either.

I'm another of those who gave up on Andromeda, embarassed to have once told so many people how amazingly awesome it was and now having to go back and apologize and retract... and can't be as excited about this show as it deserves because of that betrayal.

Maybe it'll be better with Firefly, given that it's on a network. Shows on networks don't seem to get meddled with as much as the ones in syndication, so they only die if their creators kill them, like with X-Files.

Minor corrections, though: Sorbo didn't do it singlehandedly, and only 2 writers are gone. The remaining writers, however, show signs of being distinctly unhappy and stressed whereas they used to be enthusiastic.

I thought Andromeda was extremely promising when it was brand new. I loved the Nietzscheans and the stories that involved them. I was thrilled with the history of the Commonwealth where it existed long before humans began exploring space.

I was really happy with the first season. The second season had a few episodes I couldn't stand, but there were enough high points to keep me interested -- James Marsters made one hell of a Nietzschean.

This season, now that the Commonwealth has been established again, I was looking forward to the Nietzschean rebellion possibly rising again. I wanted to see episodes that told more stories of tyranny and the struggle for freedom. Those were the stories Roddenberry wanted to tell, and those were what Andromeda's first season was all about. The first two episodes of the third season have just plain been awful, and they are not even remotely following Roddenberry's vision. The show is becoming Hercules in Space, literally!!!
