I've always been unsettled about the idea of having kids. My wife has a great desire to do so. I don't desire not to, necessarily, but I also don't feel a strong pull to have kids. But when I analyzed my reasons for not having children, they were purely self-centered, and I just can't think that that's the right way to make decisions. Glad you find the experience enjoyable! (Though I do know that it will be losing, at least temporarily, a great deal of freedom.)

/most disjointed post ever.

I was being very tongue in cheek, I hope you realize. Yes they are a lot of work, and they do consume you, but there are so many rewards that it becomes worth it. Just holding a newborn makes the world right for a while, and when they start responding to you, and you see them grow and change, then your heart comes so close to bursting. It's when they start becoming a person, with their own ideas and philosphy, that it gets interesting, irritating, and hair pulling. But that can be fun too. i get so proud o fmy 12 year old when he does something right or unexpected, but at the same time the kid seems to have no brains either! It's not a mistake, and you can never really be ready, but in the end, it is SOOOO worth it!

/end soapbox

I want you now
tomorrow won't do
there's a burning inside
and it's showing through.

I have 6 locks on my door and bolt every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they're always locking 3 locks.

I don't think that being cautiously ashamed, or selectively ashamed, or in any way ashamed of who I am is any way to live my life.
