Not sure if that is oure sacasm or a dig on me but I beleive this is a sequel to the original book. Jane Espensen gathered more essays and info since the first book and has done a second one

This book is awesome and the excerpt of Nathan's essay is amazing.
This touched me so much, I was crying at one point.
Made me smile and cry in one go... now that's writing!
Thank you MattFromGeekStuff for bringing it to our attention. They were talking about this over on Whedonesque too.
Someone has created a digg for this and we sent out the email to digg it from the Digg crew. Anyone else who would like to help us out are most welcome to, here is the link:

Dugg it!
The book has only been out for 2 months. I'm not sure everyone has had a chance to check it out.
Amazon has it listed for $12.21 (and eligible for free shipping on orders over $25). This might be a good time to pick one up and check out all the essays contained therein. Just don't forget to link through FFF.net
FM, I had the same reaction to Nathan's essay. Today was the first time I read it and it's very moving and insightful.

Thanks for diggin' it, Stoweaway.
I loved the note from his Mom.
So cute.
Nathan with mittens... now that's a thought.

loved reading this essay...he should write professionally maybe. I particularly liked the little note from his Mum. It made me a bit misty eyed about the days I was given the revered but scary privelege of "captaining" my own ship of 65+ 7-12 year olds. I've remembered the motherly concern driven stuff said to me ( eg:"you will make sure they wear a jumper... little Mary likes her Vegemite spread thinly... he has to have at least one peice of fruit!) oops I've gone off track...I think I'll go write some memoirs.

It's a typical Mom note. LOL I'd love to meet her.

Thank you, NCB!
I know---- right? ( This is copied straight from my 21 year old daughter who says this A LOT! LOL )
A very typical Mom note.
I've talked to a couple of the folks on the OB who have met Cookie Fillion and they say she's salt of the earth... finest possible woman. She and her husband did a fine job raising their son.
In the world of Hollywood where being even "nearly famous" seems to bring out the worst in folks, it seems our Capt. has maintained his sweetness. I appreciate it very much.

No dig, no sarcasm. I did not know it was a NEW book. I got it recently along with Finding Serenity, TLB hardcover (Which I did understand was new), and Serenity Visual Companion. If I'd known it was new, I'd have let you guys know about it.
And the "write it down" bit was referring to my favorite part of that essay.

I also finally just got my copy of Firefly Official Companion Vol 2. It has some copyright 2007 nottions on it, so perhaps it is fairly new.
One part from Nathan has him reviewing what he thought when he first saw the casting. He saw Alan, and said "he's a movie star, what's he doing slumming around here?" I thought this wierd because I'd thought of Adam as being much more of a movie star than Alan.
There is also a section on episodes which did not come to fruition, as well as those that were changed to something else which did become an episode.
Lots of good stuff in it.
