Definitely a modified #1. Change "Rational, intelligent semi-geek" to semi-rational, semi-intelligent, semi-geek. Also add pre-Sarkozy to the French part.

Now that Sarkozy is President of France, I'm comfortable using the term " FRENCH " fries again.
Is that wrong ?
"Hillary tried to get a million dollars for the Woodstock museum. I understand it was a major cultural and pharmaceutical event. I couldn't attend. I was tied up at the time." - John McCain
It is not those who use the term "Islamo-Fascism" who are sullying the name of Islam; it is the Islamo-Fascists. - Dennis Prager

Ive' never bought a bottle of French wine in my life, but may have to try some now. I hear it's pretty good although not as dependable as Australian or Californian.

The UN considers them torture, which should apparently make any right-thinking (as opposed to right-leaning) person think they should be banned.

Editted; complete...
Ok, yes; you did get pilloried a bit there. I thought you had indicated someone other than the UN had advocated banning of tasers; instead you were a bit muffed that folks seemed to make an assumption where you stood on the topic based on your opposition to the UN's proposed ban.

I feel like I should know that face. Though ever since the remote pooped out a year ago I've mostly been watching TV with young'uns so I've probably missed who that is. But it's bugging me - really. Who IS that ? What commercial, or TV show ???

Quote:The symbols are Greek, but it’s actually quantum mechanics. If those are the only two choices I have to work with in your model of the RWED, then I contend that it must be that people are actually a superposition of these two states, only collapsing into one or the other if depending on the circumstances. I’m just trying to work with what you give me.

I actually think there are many more then just two states, and if I were forced to choose only two states, Geezer’s description of those states sounds like a lot closer to a real explanation. Look at the taser issue. If I disagree with the degree to which a taser should be allowed to be used, then according to certain rigid-minded people I want people to be tased purely for being rude, which is utter nonsense. There’s no possible way to get the idea that I want people to be tased for being rude from anything I’ve ever said, so if you come to that conclusion about me, it’s probably because you’re ignorant of what I’ve said, or you’re so inflexible in your point of view that you can’t allow for any tolerance of another person’s opinion. Geezer got piled on on the recent thread. I've been piled on many times, purely for not advocating the exact opinion as another person. That kind of attitude is unfortunate, because we should be able to appreciate the spectrum of views that exist here.
Nihil est incertius vulgo, nihil obscurius voluntate hominum, nihil fallacius ratione tota comitiorum.
Nothing is more unpredictable than the mob, nothing more obscure than public opinion, nothing more deceptive than the whole political system.

I think I maybe represent a third type:
Irrational idealist, who should know better, but gets continually upset when things reveal the cynical nature of most institutions and people. Likes Mal Reynolds, but prefers Inara...
