I was reading about Plato and how he cold have easily escaped his fate, and several of his friends who were more than willing to bribe the guards to release him were shocked at his unwillingness to escape his freedom. One went so far as to beg Plato to please allow him to bribe the guards because if Plato did not escape all of his other friends would surely think of him as a rat fink for not springing Plato when he could have easily done so. Well Plato told his friend that he loved his City/State so much that he could not bring himself to wronging it simply because it had ruled against him in court. That is pretty damn heroic the way he stuck by his guns, and it got me to thinking how we sort of acknowledge Mal's stance too. Which is more heroic and correct? On one hand just because someone or something wrongs you, it does not give you the right to wrong it or something else back, but on the other hand if something is unjust, how can things ever get better if we just sit around and allow it to happen? I thought about this for quite a while and came to the conclusion that what makes these actions heroic are not the actions themselves but the consistency of character in these actions. What do you think of this?

Ceep in mind that Plato actually cared for his city.
Mal never cared for the alliance but he did care for his home Shadow. So he did stay true to his beliefs, he just didn´t actively search for revenge.
Besides, Plato saw his demise as his last way of saying "Scr&w you" because he was acused of misleading the youth by asking questions thereby challenging the status qou. So Plato was, in his own way, rebeling against a system he percieved unjust. Just like Mal was.
But in my humble opinion you should always try to change society if it is hurting people. Those are the real BDH

"If your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet I will end you."
"I do a job, and then I get paid. Now go run your little world."
"They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. Worked that out myself."
Instant classic.
"Mwah ha ha ha...mine is an evil laugh. Now die."
