This is an update to an earlier thread (found here: http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=31484&newsid=0 )
Joss & other showrunners have organized a campaign to help fans show their support for the WGA strike by sending pencils to the studio head honchos. To read more details either see Joss' post at Whedonesque:

Not only do I plan to participate in operation:pencils, I am also letting the biggies know that I will not be purchasing any new DVDs or viewing programming online until the strike is over. If this strike goes on for another month I'll be rethinking my Christmas wish lists (both mine & my lists for friends/family), but I stand by my artistic brothers & sisters.
To paraphrase Mal: you do the work, you (deserve to) get paid. GO WGA!!!

I hope everyone has heard about Mutant Enemy Day:
Friday, Dec 7th all the writers, and many actors from Joss Whedon's three shows (Buffy, Angel & Firefly) will gather to picket at Fox from 10am to 2pm

the assoc of producers (AKA the studios & networks) have agreed to return to the bargaining table on Nov 26th, but there is no reason to be confident that they are planning to be reasonable (last time they offered less money, no residuals and nothing for internet... an offer the WGA couldn't accept...no surprise)
