I'm missing all my BSR items since April 2006. :( You have wave, btw.

Hopefully you can back it up. I had a lot of stuff on the site and now its all gone. Please, please tell me you can fix this. Or least tell us how we can upload our stuff again without causing a flood. Thanks.

Go-se.
I just checked my profile. Every fic I had posted- a good thirty or so- since May of last year, is GONE.
Go-se.
Those luh-suh eating fei fei deh pe-gu scheisekinder are going to buck dich und kuss todd, or so my name is not Dan the Mighty. Which it isn't, but, still, it would be nice- if corny and Schwartzenager-y- to have. Street cred, and whatnot.
Go-se.
Der zwitter ist mien ungluck. Most of those weren't backed up.
Is there such thing as a virtualmob? Complete with virtual pitchforks and virtual torches?

If we are going to have to repost any missing fics, maybe we should specify a time in order to do so. We probably don't want to mix in older stuff with newly posted items (who wants to scrounge around looking for the next installment of a fic in progress). For example, we could have "Repost Mondays" or something like that. On that day, it could be recommended that no new posts should be done and it would be a day specifically for people to repost their stuff. "Repost Mondays" could go on for several weeks (or months if needed) so that people have the time to go back and repost older items in a reasonable time frame.

Just a suggestion.

P.S. So sad... All my happy comments are gone.

Yeah, I hope your stuff can be brought back too, your Dr. Tam Journals were one of my favourite ongoing series.

A suggestion for authors who didn't save copies of their fics:

If you would like to find them and reload them (when safe), you should try searching through Google's cache for a unique phrase from your story.
For example, typing "site: http://www.fireflyfans.net/sunroomitem.asp mal llama" calls up all the fics from the BSR with the words "llama" and "Mal". If you select the *Cached* option below an entry, it calls up the old version of the webpage, which is somehow still available. I don't know that much about teh internets, but I've found hundreds of webpage "ghosts" that way (including my favorite BSR fics which have since been lost).

Wow. That's a brilliant thought! All the authors who lost stuff should do that, it really works! (I don't have anything posted, but the hack broke my heart and i thought I'd weigh in).
