I have recently discovered Doctor Who, that is the New Series 1-3 and fell in love with the Doctor.

So for you who like or love Who classic or the new series here is a place to share!

Once you've been in Serenity you never leave. You find a way to live in it.

The new Doctor Who is wonderful. Christopher Eccleston, was a great way to start, because he was so unlike the old Doctors in the classic series. He didn't dress wildly (just a leather coat, black T-shirt and black jeans), and he played the weary timelord perfectly.

I wasn't sure about David Tennet replacing him. For those who don't know, TImeloads regenerate, and take on a completely new personality and appearance when they are near death.

Anyway, I wasn't sure about David, but he has turned out to be my favorite Doctor yet. He's funny, and his acting is brilliant. I hope he chooses to remain the Doctor for many season's to come.

I do miss his last companion Rose. Martha is great, and she will be back next season after a stint with Torchwood, but David Tennet and Billie Piper (Rose) had fantastic chemistry on screen.

The good news is, Rose will be back for the three episode season finale next season. There's also talk of Peter Davidson (The 5th Doctor) showing up next season! Cool!

If you can't get enough Doctor Who, there are two spin offs, "Torchwood", and "The Sarah Jane Adventures".

Torchwood is being shown in the US on BBC America. It's more similar to the X-files, than Doctor Who, but it does cross-overs with the Doctor Who series. The main character of the show, Captain Jack Harkness, was introduced on Doctor Who, and has had several adventures with the Doctor. As it turns out, Jack is even older than the 900 year old Doctor! The Face of Boe????

Word of warning. If you're homophobic, avoid Torchwood. It's a very adult oriented show, with some very adult situations that will make the Tara & Willow relationship seem tame. If you're more open minded, you'll probably love the risks this series is willing to take. It's obvious to me after watching this series, that UK audiences are more open minded than they are here in the US. Hopefully that will change soon!!!!

The Sarah Jane Adventures, isn't being shown in the US yet. Though it can be found for download, if you know where to look for it. Wink, wink, nudge nudge!

It's made for a younger audience, and follows the adventures of Sarah Jane Smith, The 3rd and 4th Doctor's companion, and a fan favorite. She's been left behind by the doctor, and now works on Earth as an investigative reporter, chasing stories about the supernatural and aliens. She has two side kicks, a young test tube boy (think a young Kyle XY) who poses as her son, and the nosey girl who lives next door.

Both spin-offs are based in Cardiff Wales (where all three series are produced). This is the location of "The Cardiff Rift", an alien version of Sunnydale's Hellmouth, where all sorts of Alien creatures and artifacts come through.

Many in the UK, consider Russel T. Davies (who created these series, and revamped Doctor Who) to be the British version of Joss Whedon.

For Joss series fans, this is also worth mentioning. Anthony Head (Giles) has made two appearances on the new Doctor Who. He played the evil Alien Headmaster of a School in the second season episode "School Reunion", and he also did a voice over, playing the villian in the animated special "Doctor Who and The Infinite Quest"! It's weird seeing our beloved Giles playing a villian, but Anthony plays both roles well, as one would expect!
It's also been announced that James Marsters (Spike) will be in an episode of Torchwood's second season.

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

For me the One True Doctor will always be Tom Baker though the new series does have it's advantages - better production standards chief among them. I've only seen a smatering of the Eccleston episodes but I liked what I saw mostly. Tennant is brilliant at being almost (but not quite) as good as Baker. And I liked the episode Blink quite muchly, not just for the seriously creepy villains but also for showing a time travel story from the point of view of somebody who doesn't travel in time.

I have a friend in Georgia who downloads the episodes and then sends us DVDs that he's made of the episodes. I had never seen a Doctor Who epoisode before I saw Chris Esscleston as the Doctor Number 9 but I liked him instantly. I had never seen anything like this show. I just love the Time Travel through space and time and the way the companions interact with the Doctor and reveal different sides of him. I love Rose the best. Martha was good but Rose is my favorite. It is great to hear she will be in this next season finale! This was news to me- thanks for sharing. After the first season finale when Chris' Doctor regenerates- (Parting of the Ways is one of my most favorite episodes ) into David Tenants Doctor- it took me a while to adjust and like this new face- kind of like Rose that way I guess. But now I love David as the Doctor and I am hoping they don't change him again for a while yet. Until I can get new episodes - Can't wait for the Christmas episode coming- I am rewatching Series 3 inbetween my Firefly of course.

Other favorite episodes include The Empty Child, The Doctor Dances, Parting of the Ways, Tooth and Claw with the Werewolf, The Girl in the Fireplace ( I love everything about this episode ), Doomsday to name a few> I like so many I can't think of them all. I also really liked Family of Blood in season 3 with the Doctor as a human- although it made me miss the Doctor. Blink was amazing and it truly had me creeped out! I love it! Can't wait for more.

Chis was great. He was my favorite Doctor until I'd had about a season of Tennant and now I have to say that David is my favorite, even over Tom Baker.

I would say Torchwood is amazing, the writing for both series is tops, and Blink (Dr Who) is one of the most intense, scarey episodes of any show I've seen. It would have been great even as a full length film.

Tom Baker has the benefit of being the Doctor for the longest stretch, so that helps. He's been my favorite for years, but Tennet has won me over. The longer he's played the role, the more I like him, and after episodes "Blink" and "The Shakespeare Code", he bacame my favorite Doctor. I think I like "The Shakespeare Code" for all of the Harry Potter references.

One of the hardest episodes to watch is the one where he loses Rose. He's obviously in love with her, and not being able to get to her is heartbreaking. David and Billie played that goodbye scene so well. It's great news that this isn't the end to their story, and that Rose will return next season, even if it's just for a short time.

Some need access codes. Torchwood and Badwolf are two that often work!

BTW: Did anyone notice that if you switch the letters around, Torchwood spells Doctor Who.

Russel T. Davies seems to like sneaking this kinda stuff in. In this years Chrismas Special, Kylie Minogue plays a character named Astrid. Astrid and Tardis contain the same letters.

Yup. Torchwood was the code name used for the series so tapes/etc from each days shooting wouldn't be stolen :)

Somebody (don't recall who) once said that the Doctor you grew up with is the one you prefer. It's true in my case though maybe it's just coincidence.
