I'm from Australia.. firefly has yet to be aired on public TV (Although, I think it was on cable), and I ordered it on the strength of Scott Kurtz's PVP strip promoting it. I've watched up to Our Mrs Reynolds, and I've loved every second of it so far. I've got a few friends coming over today who have been dying to see it, so it gives me an excuse to watch it from the start again.. heck, we might end up watching the entire series through in one sitting.
Anyway, I've never felt so.. hmm.. attached, to a TV show before. My whole family loves it, and I know I'm going to be feeling down when I've watched the whole series.
Anyway, I am close to becoming what I always used to make fun of. The Fanboy. Gimme those petitions to sign!
I'll have to keep an eye out for any info on the movie, and convert all my friends.
Any fan movies in the works?

Heh. Welcome to our ranks. I get that utterly depressed feeling every time I finish watching the DVD set. (It's been, what, 6 times now? 7?) Two things make me feel a little better:
1) I still have my DVDs. I can watch them again.
2) The movie is coming in a year or so!
(Although the 2nd one was still just a pipe dream until the last 2 times I've watched them through.)

Welcome to the Browncoat ranks! And good luck on converting. There are very few people that hate the show and most of them never even seen the show. They just hate the idea or because it competes with their show. So chances are your friends will become fellow Browncoats too.
Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

Luk, I can relate. A few weeks back, I was making a post that was pretty damn similar to yours, except I have no family (parents and siblings not withstanding) so I've been watching firefly with my roommate. Again, and again, and again.
I see it this way, if I have to be fanboyish about something, I could do far worse.

Trust me, I understand the "my god, I need more--Nooooo!" syndrome. My daugher has the chronic form -- she absolutely refuses to watch any new anime with me these days ("There were only how many episodes? I hate you Daddy!")
It helps me to think of Firefly in literary terms. A novelette, followed by twelve perfect little short stories. Too bad the magazine folded...
Or, alternately, think of it as a twelve-episode mini-series (w/one double-length episode).
Of course, once the Big Damn Movie (or "BDM" for short around here) comes out, the equation changes for the better.
Anyway, always glad to meet another Browncoat. So gather your friends, pop in a disk, and break atmo.

Hey, join the club. I grew up post Star Trek, but was 12 when Star Wars came out in '77. While I'm a fan of Sci Fi, I never collected comic books, never attended any 'Cons, ...I'm a casual Sci Fi guy. But with THIS show...wow. I've never been so enthusiastic over 1 show. ( Almost with Dark Angel, and prob even more so with John Doe, but I digress ). Ok, I have a huge thing for Tolkien's books, but thats different. Welcome!

I too have gotten my entire family obsessed with firefly. I even converted my best friend. Although she was due because she got me obsessed with Anime. She borrowed my Dvd set and has had it for two months! I still can't get it back. I am thinking about buying another set, keeping one for myself and the other to lend out to friends and family who have yet to be converted. I feel the withdrawal not having seen firefly for two months!

Well.. there is one convert who plans to buy it from Amazon (not for sale in Aus yet). My mate Matt, who I said was coming over, has borrowed the first two discs after we watched them all in a row. After the first episode, he was amazed, and literally cheered when Mal shot Dobbes in the head. After that, he just said.. "This is clearly the best show I've seen in a long time. I hate FOX for cancelling this, and Dark Angel, among other things"
