been reading some from a mess o' sci-fi movies and shows... and - dammit - they suck! even the ones linked to shows i really admire...

over the past cuppla years...
(while i have heard fan fiction put down so often i've taken to forcing feeding it to people who mouth off!)

... i have read FAR better stuff HERE - and on other sites for various fandoms - than i can find between the crappily photo-shopped covers of a paper back.

why do they contract this stuff out to such hacks???

yeh yeh - jut call me Rhetorical Butler, Gone with the Whined!

i'm not talking about the serenity novel, which atleast has a feel for the language of the verse - and knows a degree of back story - jayne's scene in out of gas, atherton wing etc... and has funny lines/descriptions, such as the operative enjoying 'kicking the sh*t out of malcolm reynolds'.

keep flyin:)

Oh, it's you again...isn't there anyone else on this site, 'cept us? Maybe we scared 'em off.

The fine line between novelisation and fanfic is simply who gets paid. There are some...continuations... of deceased writers' work out there which seems nothing more than hardcopy fanfic with a price on it. (And quite often deeply inferior to the original.)

I try and steer clear of most tie-in stuff, simply because it seems to be nothing more than a cynical ploy to separate the gullible and their (insert currency of choice.)
