For Joss!

Seriously, would it kill them to make them look like the actors/characters we love? I just don't get it why Joss is allowing this.

The alternate (by Urru) isn't bad--Angel still doesn't necessarily look like Angel, but Illyria's a pretty good likeness, IMO. The one by Robinson, tho...
But I haven't liked Jeanty's artwork on the Buffy comics much at all, but it hasn't detracted from my enjoyment of the story one bit. Hopefully the same'll be true here.
Unfortunately (and someone else here recently said exactly what I'd already been thinking), in the preview of the first few pages of #1 that we got, I never had the sense I was actually listening to Angel. The "voice" was just... off. But it's such a small sample, that I'm willing to give it 2 or 3 full issues before I make any real judgments on that...

I guess I'm pretty much thinking the same thing on the Angel comics that you are. Except as long as it's canon, no way am I giving them up even if it doesn't "feel" like Angel. I have to know what happens!!!
By the way, Groo, what's your opinion on Buffy #10 on the Buffyverse board?

Ask and you shall receive.

I'm not going to not read the "Angel" comics, either, even if the art sux and the characters don't quite "sound" right. I'm still not as excited about these as I am about the "Buffy" ones--and that's coming from someone who actually very slightly prefers "Angel" (the show) over "Buffy". The ending of "Not Fade Away" was the perfect way to wrap up that story, so going beyond that isn't something I'm sure is all that great an idea, but I guess we'll see...

But remember..."Not Fade Away" was written (mostly) with the belief that they would be back for a sixth season.

Doesn't mean it wasn't the best way to close out the series, tho.

I'm still torn on whether "Buffy" was better off going on to S6 and 7, or should've ended on "The Gift". Positives and negatives to both options. I'm suspecting "Angel" might end up being a similar case...

I guess, for me at least, it would depend on how Joss originally intended to end the series.
I may be in the minority, but I actually liked Season 6...and not just because I related to Buffy's state of mind throughout much of it. Season 7 was not my favorite season overall, but I loved the way it ended. "The Gift" was one of my favorite episodes and it would've been a good sendoff, too, but it would have left the world w/o a trained, active Slayer (Faith being all imprisoned for the several months while she was dead). I am really glad that Joss got to end it the way he did w/Chosen, with Buffy sharing that power, as opposed to just abandoning the world and her mission. It was perfect, IMO.

I don't dis-like S6--it's got some real high points (OMWF, the nerds, "Tabula Rasa", "Life Serial") but its low points are really low. And S7 is just a direction-less mess. So, while one half of me is glad the series continued another 2 years so we could get 44 more episodes and now the comics out of it, the other half of me feels like "The Gift" was the best, most natural point to end the show.
I'm going to read the "Angel" comics--all of them, right thru to the end, no matter what--but I'm just hoping I won't regret it when I'm done...

Sorry, Groo. Didn't mean to make it sound like I thought you didn't like Season 6...was just giving my opinion that I did like it (even though I know I'm in the minority) and that I'm glad for both seasons as a whole--especially because of how the series did end.
