These guys are mean
Well, there is some truth to what they say. To the uninitiated, 'Serenity' does seem to fill one's mind w/ visions of soapy baths, comforting tea.....or personal hygiene undergarments.
I'm just sayin'.
People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

Whoa...good screensaver!

Basically it just highlights the extent of poor journalism.
It may be me but most of the reviews you read these days are just the writer showing off with a quip or a rant. Seems to be all the trend these days to "have a rant'. This is no exception. The writer seems to be keen in taking a cheap shot more than it does about actually understanding the subject matter or presenting a genuine point.
I mean really, with a brief like "Most misleading movie titles". What value is there in that. It's pathetic! ...
Wait a second... So, y'all are saying there's journalism in Maxim?! When did that happen? And who's responsible for that disastrous turn of affairs? She (one presumes) should be given the boot immediately!
Maxim has always been about boobs and metrosexual clothing/fragrance/accessories adverts, like its chief competitors, "FHM" and "Gazongas".
...If they're going to start trying to inject 'journalism' into the mix -- even a weak attempt like this one -- where are impressionable teenaged boys going to get their undiluted dose of sexual identity confusion?
C'mon, Maxim! Give up this pipe dream of 'insightful commentary'. Hell, nobody ever read Playboy back in the day either, except perhaps post-orgasmically for five minutes. Get back to what y'all do best: Jessy Biel in a wet cotton shift and hairless boys with chiseled cheekbones in CK's...
Rantingly,
zoid
P.S.
With the even-handed journalism skills I've just exhibited, perhaps I could get a job writing for Maxim?

Zoid!
As ever good to see you around. How have you been?
I think you're cut from finer things than maxim cloth my good fellow. I'd suggest a writer on a show of your own conjuring or perhaps a stand up routine may better suit your sharp and clever tongue.
However my gripe wasn't exclusive to maxim. (I must say the misplacement of the word journalism was improper on my part and for that I should be lambasted).
No my gripe was with all forms of hack journalism which seem to pass for the norm these days. News coverage is a soap opera! In fact its coverage of a soap opera that seems to pass for news! These pedlars of misery have a great deal to answer for.
That said a mag called 'Gazongas' has class written all over it! Call me shallow but I laughed when I read that.

Exactly. I wouldn't worry about anyone having read this. Only horndogs who don't have the stones to get a subscription to real porn "read" Maxim. Its the magazine equivalent of late night cinemax.

One writer's un-educated opinion of Firely should not be enough to brand the magazine as reaver territory.
Ahh do not give in to the dark si- DOH! too late we lost him!

Dont get me wrong...But I think your all being thin skinned. Maxim is aimed at the 18-35 Alpha caucasian male. And as much as I love FF. Its not for everybody, it never will be. Maxim has the right to review anything in anystyle they see fit. "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend, to the death, your right to say it!" We can disagree, but the main jist of their article is that the TITLE is misleading. I agree that it is... (To someone whos never heard os Firefly.) Serenity is a state of Sereneness ...would any of you say this was a Serene movie? Now if Martha Stewart said in her magazine that Nascar is just a bunch of cars going left really fast...she will expect backlash...but its her right to say so. I would be more offended if Popular Science had bad things to say about my beloved Serenity.
"Smellin' alot of IF comin' offa' this plan!"
