With all these new geek friendly series coming out one after the other (CHUCK, JOURNEYMAN, BIONIC WOMAN), I'm surprised no one has started a thread for REAPER yet, especially on here since it seems like something BUFFY fans would be chomping at the bit to watch and comment on.
But since no one has, I'm gonna start it up.
After seeing BUFFY, I looked back at DOGMA and it kinda struck me that DOGMA is what Buffy would have been like if Joss actually believed in God. And watching REAPER, it was like watching if Kevin Smith had created BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. And I don't mean that in a derivative way. Even though it's probably not the most original concept, the execution on the other hand was just flawless. The humor and the supernatural parts of it really mixed together, it has a completely flawless cast and it's just something really cool. And I can't wait to see if the show continues on the same tone that the pilot set up so flawlessly.
And one note on the cast. While it's cool to see Ray Wise (aka. Leland Palmer from TWIN PEAKS as Satan) and Missy Peregrym in the cast, props have to go to Tyler Labine (the guy from INVASION) as Sock. Everything this guy says and does is just too funny (My fave line of his is the "I'm Jewish, you jerk!" comment)
So who here likes REAPER?

I really liked Reaper. It was pretty funny.
I never watched Buffy but while I was watching Reaper, that's what I imagined it would be like. A serious idea with some comedy in it or vice versa.
Either way I'm watching it again next week.

I enjoyed it. It was kinda a cross between Buffy, The Collector, and Megas XLR.

I've been dying for the season to start up ever since I saw the pilots a while ago for Chuck, Pushing Daisies, Bionic Woman and Reaper. Reaper really works for me. Its got great characters and I love the dialog.
I do kinda wish I hadn't seen the pilot now since they re-cast Andi and I REALLY liked the original better. I liked Missy in Heroes but I'll have to see how she strikes me when its not a repeat of a line I've already seen. They just didn't seem natural to me. Unfortunately, neither did Sam's side in that dialog since they were re-filmed. It was funny, he looked really different in the re-shoots so again, it was pretty glaring. I'm sure anybody seeing it for the first time probably didn't even notice.
As with all of these shows, I can't wait to see what they do next.

I didn't notice that much a difference between the original stuff and the re-shoots. And I do think Missy will be a good fit for the show.
And actually, Kevin said that with the pilot, he was aiming for a SHAUN OF THE DEAD kind of vibe. And you get a good sense of that, especially in the montage of them suiting up to fight the arsonist demon. In a way, you'd call this the show the love child of Kevin, Joss and Edgar Wright.

ok, did anoyne here see the Kevin Smith / Reaper Comicon panel vid on Scifi.com??
http://video.scifi.com/player/?id=154939
it's 58 min & change, but worth it if you have the time to kill
anywho my point is, pretty much all kev did for this was direct. this isn't a kevin smith script
and, wytchcoft, are you sure he's (Tony Head) not talking about "Ripper" his upcoming BBC produced Buffy spin off about his character Rupert "Ripper" Giles and his post "Buffy" adventures???
possibly??

I really liked the Pilot of Reaper but wasn't crazy about the second episode. I do think each episode is getting better and the last one forgot name aired 10/16 was the best so far. Right now this is probably my second favorite show just behind Dexter on Showtime. I'm really not crazy about any of the other new shows. I loved Heroes last year but so far this year am really disappointed. Buffy and Angel are two of my most favorite shows ever and I do see a little Buffy and Angel in Reaper.

I have been a Kevin Smith fan since Clerks came out in the theaters. (I snuck in at 13 years old.) I felt like I was the only one that saw the Smith/Whedon vibe coming off the show. I loved the pilot, but the last two episodes have been a little disappointing. I am holding my breath to see if the CW has the foresight to see that this could be the next BUFFY if they give it the love it deserves.

I'm LOVING Reaper!!!!
FYI, Kevin Smith became a Joss fan when Jason Mewes kept going on and on about how great Buffy was.

Buffy: I'm just worried this whole session's gonna turn into some training montage from an '80's movie.
Giles: (sighs) Well, if we hear any inspirational power chords we'll lie down till they go away.
