There was a Saffron song contest of some sort, but I don't know the details. I got the word from Phil Plait's blog at BadAstronomy.com.

The contest was a blast, because the Bedlam Bards and Christina Hendricks herself were the judges.

And actually two of the songs on my myspace are about Firefly -- the tune "Dark Dark Eyes" is about River. Just not explicitly. And the "I'm Not Sexy" song began its bizarre life as a filk, and -- well, I've just got Firefly on the brain.
