just watched it again - and wondered, especially since it's different again to the script - how people feel it shades the characters - any differently??

I really noticed a difference in the Book-Inara supper scene. Book was very intolerant...

yeh you're right -
i guess it was less of a cliche (maybe) to show him as friendly...
but i never minded friction between characters in a show.
(one reason why i like certain episodes of angel is that the main characters disaprove of each other etc).

I thought Book was more "on the ball" in that original version.

"What you do is legal. I doubt I can say the same about anything else on this ship."

I also preferred the starting of this one. The whole starting with the space scene, having a few more classy lines.

"Think happy thoughts, Jayne"

A few people have been put off by the newer war scene start. "It's a war series. They are boring." within the first five minutes. or "erm... where is the starting?" as I was dumbly thinking, assuming I had somehow missed half an episode or something... No one would start a series in the middle of a firefight. right? right?

Oh. Thanks!

I did like Book a little better in this one, but the background music was not as much to my liking. I do sort of prefer the whole big war scene tie-in (or even the "whose colors is he flying" bit) rather than having Zoe explain it, and the whole "we won" thing, because they show how much Mal was affected by it right at the get-go.

yeh - you can see the kind of Mal they were primed for - more the BDM type... (the changes are small but signifcant) still, the final one FEELS right - but maybe only since i've watched it more times??

How do I find the whole unshown pilot? Or the shown pilot? Are they both on the dvds? I'm new to DVDs, sorry if it" a dumb Q. Bought a DVD player at the millevium, finally opened the box after buying Firefly, Serenity, Dark Angel.
Thanks for any help.
