Something long. Something adventurous, dramatic, maybe funny...

Cannon 'ships - romance doesn't have to be the focus of the story, but it would be nice if there were some good Mal/Inara, Wash/Zoe, and Simon/Kaylee moments.

(BTW: I've already read Mal4Prez's stuff, but I am looking for something in that vein.)

I eagerly await your recs!

"On the Edge" and its sequel "Broken Wings", by Leiasky, being posted right now.

post Miranda, great plot with everyone present and canon romantic moments...more like the movie than the series, but believable. And River is sooo cool.

Well... there's always ScrewTheAlliance, but I figure you have gone trough his stuff already... have you?

I just can't abide Rayne. Or River/anybody. Or Jayne/anybody. That just doesn't make sense. And I don't think Joss ment for his wonderful creation to end up as a love-boat with a slightly different setting that other love-boats. Joss didn't do that in the show, or the movie, so why do you people assume that it would have happened? ----Riverflan

EmpireX, look up Guildsister if you haven't already. She's not so big with the funny, but her stuff is nice and angsty and super well written. A page turner. If there were pages. Non-canon pairing, but not offensively done.

Just remember that most was written before the BDM.

Another that I would recommend is "Choices" by Tzegha: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1217106/1/ (you may need the final "/" for the link to work... and also the story does take a chapter or two to kick into a really high gear.)

Once again from before the BDM and it has very good insight into the characters, and it asks a lot of questions about what we just accept as canon (well it did for me.). Absolutely superb. (wouldn't mind others' views of this piece too.)

(For some reason IMO there are very few fics written post the release of the BDM, or set after it that are of really high calibre. Unless I am looking in the wrong places.)
