Manga influence question

hi, i'm not here much this week buut:
question - just re-read AA Prime an old manga
(if you don't wanna get technical with the labellling).
Much of the characters and visuals seem reflected in Simon and River on Firefly
(in the same way Tomb of Dracula influences Buffy)
does anyway know of other cited comic influences i could check out?

There have been a number of threads bringing up similarities between the anime Cowboy Bebop and Firefly. While I love them both, I don't see it.
It is true, though, that they are both about a group of tough people on a ramshackle space ship looking for their next job so they could surive.

I myself always saw a lot of similarity between Joss's work (especially Buffy) and Toriyama's Dragonball. But that's just me....
