The higher the percentage of your total votes are cast for Firefly, the higher Firefly's (should the 's be italicized? Seriously, I want to know.) % of the the total votes cast will be.
If you vote for 1 show, it gets 100% of the votes.
2 = 50%
3 = 33.333%
4 = 25%
5 = 20%
10 = 10%
etc.

Can I suggest just voting for shows that you've watched and like, or is this the wrong crowd for that?
The way the tvvote page is set up - with the ability to vote for as many top 40 shows as you want - is very smart. It means that you CAN vote for a show without ever having to worry about hurting any other show. None of the stupidity of most voting systems which lead to nonsense like being unable to vote for Nader without effectively helping Bush.
And yet here we are talking about alliances and betrayals and voting for shows we've never watched and NOT voting for shows we like because of the politics of what their fans are doing.
Not to put too fine a point on it but, as far as I'm concerned, screw that! I'll vote for the shows I like. I like BSG, so I vote for them. I like Buffy and Angel, and Dr Who, and the Gates, so they get my votes too. Hell, if I liked and watched Xena, I'd vote for that too!
I shouldn't have to feel bad for not voting Lexx - a show I've seen no more than 5 episodes of and never cared enough for to watch more.
And I hope and believe that Firefly isn't #1 because we were the best at manipulating other shows fans to form "alliances" with us, but because we have the largest group of people who actually, truly, honestly love the show and are passionate enough to put in the effort to vote regularly.
Sorry for coming across all ranty. Just seems like all the "alliances" are more trouble than they're worth - and dilute the value of what we've achieved. We could say that our #1 position shows that we have the most, and most dedicated fans out there, but if a Xenite counters that with "no, you're just better at making alliances than we are", how are we to counter that - when it's exactly what we're trying to do?

Browncoat votes rose by 8, yesterday, .6%; Xenite votes fell by 177, 19.21%.
Now, we shoot for our next big goal, 425,000, which is 23,633 votes away, about 17.74 days at current voting levels.
Further out is half a million, 98,633 votes away, still about 74.04 days out as we are currently voting.
4,259,773 votes have been counted as of 09/14/07; 13,555 were cast yesterday. In order to take ownership of 10% of all votes cast yesterday, we needed to vote 1,356 times, falling short by 24 votes. We are up to 9.4224064% of all votes ever cast. We're making progress, again!
We can still take that 10% slice of the pie on Rich Labonte's charts! If each of us voting managed to eke out just one more vote per day, it would make a huge difference; we could start catching up on that 10%, not to mention reaching our goal numbers much more quickly.
Our 1000+/day streak is still going strong, at 46 days, but it almost slipped away from us, this past weekend! Just 28 days to beat Xena's all-time record of 73 days. Let's not let our votes slip away from us, again!

Our weakest day is always Sunday which counts the votes placed on Saturday - and we came very very close to dropping below 1K last week. We all need to really make a point to get in as many votes as we can on Saturday. Spread the word on other votey sites!
