As a side note - I don't know what to believe anywhere I read it, and I thought some of you might know better than me. Now, I know I'm hoping against hope here, but is it true that Fox loses the TV rights to Firefly soon?

welcome to the site, take it easy on getting addicted to Firefly; it's not like crack, but it comes pretty close

"Take my love, take my land,
Take my crack stem from my hand,
I don't care, I'm still free,
My fingers stink of feces

Take me out, buy some crack,
Tell your mom I'll be right back,
Burn the land boil the sea,
You can't take this high from me

There's no place I can be
since I started smoking trees

You can't take my crack from me"

all time classics from beneath the bridge:
Enjoyed by over 2,500 Firefly Fans:

Welcome ChocoboJoe! Glad to have you here. Make yourself at home.

Now you must go forth and spread the word, bringing Firefly / Serenity to all those as needs it told.

Welcome, CJ!

I had to Google to figure out what "Chocobo" was all about. Now I know that.

Better avoid ShipsCat, though -- she's got a thing about birds.

(I thought maybe Chocobo was related to "jockamo", as in "Jockamo fee na-ne" (creole patios used in the song "Iko Iko"). But no.

Anyhow, hope you enjoy the good ship FireflyFans.

Here's my take on the Serenity vs. Firefly controversy. First of all, you're not alone. A lot of Firefly fans had similar feelings to yours, especially at first.

What you need to understand is that the theatrical movie is a very different medium than television. Joss was faced with a huge challenge in trying to reintroduce the Firefly 'verse AND nine regular characters AND a new antagonist, AND tell a compelling story all within a 2-hour time window. (Hey, it took a 2-hour pilot and several episodes to do that in the series!) In that light, I think he did amazingly well.

I think you'll find, though, that on repeated viewings the movie will grow on you, and will come to seem more in the spirit of the series, even if very different in pacing and level of detail.

You might also want to get hold of the comic/graphic novel "Serenity - Those Left Behind", which fills in some of the discontinuities between the series and movie.

I'm pointin' right at it!

Yeah, I read Those Left Behind before watching the movie, so some things made more sense.
As far as the movie goes, I understand what he had to work with. I'm not downing it at all... I guess what I was really trying to say was that it was not Joss' fault that I was disappointed. It was FOX's fault for canceling it and forcing it to be brought back in a movie format, instead of a TV series which it was supposed to be. I dunno. I just would have liked to have seen all those story arcs be developed and fully fleshed out, instead of really quickly wrapped up. Does anyone still hold out hope that it could come back as a TV series, and pick up where we left off?

Haha! So I'm still working out how to use these boards. So my previous note was actually a response to DonCoat. :)

Hello again, i'd like to point out that all the browncoats feel that the series should be brought back. So much so that some browncoats are trying their best to make their own FanFilms. Two in progress are Bellflower and Into the Black. More power to them. :)
