I'm putting together a mal costume. I've got the gun/holster, pants and shirt. What I am still looking for are the suspenders and browncoat obviously. I know the suspenders are WW2 canvas suspenders and the crew never found 2 pairs that matched, though if anyone knows where to find any that are similar I would appreciate it. I've come close in some places I just thought I'd check here as well.

Now the second point. I'm looking for a browncoat. I know of the abbeyshot coats and the logan guy who actually made them. So I'm curious to see if any new people have been making them recently... keeping in mind that I am a semi-poor college student.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Tristan from this very site makes browncoats. At least he did. I figure he still does. And he's excellent at it.

For my money, the best suspender base is this thing:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280144132201
And if anyone happens to click that link after the page has been removed, I will direct you to look for the ebay seller libertytreecollectors and ask for an "Israeli US Military Ammo Pouch Belt Suspender H Strap"

Then, you'll want to remove the straps on the back and add the back strap of a pair of Y-back suspenders instead. I think you also need to put the little leather fasteners on the front straps.

There are some pictures in this thread that ought to help you: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=1707&page=29&highlight=suspende

Trust me, I'm in my second year of college, I know how tough it is to have a hobby like this on that kind of budget. Luckily, the very basic components of the Mal costume aren't too tough or expensive (except for the browncoat, of course).
