This is a site that's been around for a while, and they admit that these are not the absolute numbers. But this is stuff is used by a lot of people in the biz. First numbers for Serenity should be out in a day or so.

Thanks for that. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with, even if it's just an indication.

This will be interesting to watch. Gee, I hope we hit some big numbers. Surely #5 on Amazon.com means some numbers. Best Buy must have sold a ton with the comic tie-in.
And I can't believe Wild Hoggs is doing so well. It looked so stupid.

That's the wierd thing with DVD releases. With some titles, it seems to find a whole new market. Flix that fail in theaters become superstars on DVD. That's why Hollywood is willing to release stuff straight to DVD. They can make money that way, and avoid the big risk of a theatrical release (even a small efforts costs you a few mill).

Of course, I don't believe it ever went beyond #5, and is already back down to below #10.
I would not expect to see the same sorts of numbers we saw from the original release, IMHO.

I agree. Lots of non-Browncoats bought the first release DVD, not including the BC's that have bought multiple copies. But it will probably be only true Browncoats that buy the CE.

Couldn't find the numbers on sales figures, but found some digits on how our BDM did in theaters.
Theatrical Performance
Total US Gross: $25,514,517
International Gross: $13,000,000
Worldwide Gross: $38,514,517
Considering the production budget was a reported $39,000,000, it just squeaked under breaking even in the theaters. Bring in DVD, HD, and Special Edition sales, and seems like Universal has probably made a tidy little profit off the whole thing.
So how much Serenity merch do I have to buy to get a sequel?
