Thanks Tristan! So very good to hear from you too! How's life? Been to any events recently that involved more costume making? You are so very good at it! In the firm knowledge of the fact that you have been heavily involved in dramatic productions and re-enactments I shall dare to ask the rather cheeky question .. have you ever tried a corset on before?!

Roxy- yeah most of mine are hook and eye...you really ought to try the lace up as they are ever so much easier to get on...oh and MisterG will likely faint when I show him this thread.

Tristan- better question as a theater guy I am assuming you've been called upon to lace more than a few...do you agree lace up is easier than hook and eye?

The one corset I have an eye on is lace up. Now I have a question, is it easy to get on yourself or do you pretty much always need help? The hooks I can do myself, but that just gets irritating and my arms start to ache after a while (*grumble, grumble*stupid tiny hooks*grumble, grumble*).

Emma, life is good, thank you....I need to email you and get caught up....
No events lately, but I am doing uniform pieces for the 76th. That's about it.

As for me being in a corset, yes I have. Not really a secret, either...it's something I am kinda proud of, actually. A production of Love's Labours Lost in college as Dumaine. And no, it was not comfy, but boy did we stand up straight and tall! It's nice to be able to add something to a conversation when a woman says "You have no idea!"...hehe...yes, yes I do!

MSG, lace-up is a LOT easier to deal with than hook and eye. Less pain involved and you can actually get a better fit.
I used to really enjoy lacing up corsets, too....*sigh*

Roxy, if it's a back-lace corset you'll probably always need help, unless you are really flexible.

Well...here's my contribution to the lace-up corset thing...

In typical girl next door fashion:

Heh...it did actually have what I refer to as a brothel back...it laced up. The top that I lobbied for was an actual corset with boning and everything, but the matron of honor nixed it.

And this is my favorite hook and eye fastening top. Gotta be careful how you move as those suckers fly open REALLY easily. Ask me how I know.

(That's my grandma with me about three weeks before she died. She had always wanted to ride in my car with the top down. We hoisted her in using the lifter thingy that was used to get her in and out of bed. Never could figure out how to get her in before she got so weak as to need the lift.)
