Just bought my third set of Firefly DVDs (folks I'm converting always want to buy my set off of me, rather than buying their own), and Disc Three won't run in my slot-loading iMac unless I coerce, cajole, or con it.
Had the same problem with Disc Two of my second set, and Disc One of my first set.
Intriguing, huh?

You'll have to by a fourth set to see if the pattern holds. If it does; woooo spooooky.

Already spooky enough for me, thanks!

But if #4 of the fourth set fills the pattern, does't it call for a fifth set? We need to know if the problem rotates back to #1 or is cured.
(Or passes into another set -- cue Twilight Zone music now)

No, in the 5th set it begins to get worse. 1 and 2 then start having the problems, followed by 1 and 3, 1 and 4, 2 and 3, 2 and 4, and finally 3 and 4. The 11th set, though, is alright. It's cured. Or is it that 1 2 and 3 are a problem? Hrm...I don't care to think of the combinations there...123,124,134,234 I guess are the only ones...The 15th set is where they all go bad. The 16th set, though...is what I wonder. Will it start back over with just 1 or will it be cured? Hmm...go buy 13 more to find out! :)

It may not be the discs themselves but an anomaly at the particular point on the space-time continuum which is occupied by our thread-starter's player.

maybe the pattern can be applied to our lives, help us unearth our path and enter the future
You should start a religion

See, now that makes sense to me.
I've always had "strange luck".

I have a problem getting my DVD player to play the last two episodes on disc three. Don't know why. It's a good quality DVD player.

Folk might not grok a religion in competition with Joss-worship. Would you settle for a sect?
clj, do we want to know about your strange luck??
jaynesgirl, have you tried your funky disc in another good-for-sure player?
DVDs are weird -- I have one which plays the feature *above* the one which is clicked, and another which seems to want to Play Movie unless I can avoid going over that choice on my way to select a feature. One works far better with the Remote than the mouse. And so on...
All are from presumably legitimate sources.
bun, mystified
