I think the writer is trying to point out everything they can about Nathan. I think they did a pretty good job of it. By saying currently co-starring in a feature film, they are pointing out that the movie is out in thearers right now.

I think we got Browncoats there at zap2it and they don't want to be too obvious. Browncoats they are everywhere.

For instance, they could have said this:

Fox Searchlight is still sending Waitress to new theaters! So be sure to check your theaters. Especially art or university theaters. Ask and maybe they will get on the list!
Nathan (Our Captain) Fillion's new movie in theaters now!
