I don't view it as bad at all regarding exposure for him. I only view it is bad because it's not something I could watch personally, even for him, and especially for a year.

And about the idea of him playing somebody's "boy toy"? He did that story already on OLTL when Joey Buchanan dated Dorian Lord, his mother's rival!!

I could handle watching a few eps. of OLTL again but an entire year of DS is a bit too much.

And forgive me for being blunt here, and I mean this in the nicest way possible really, but JJ Abrams is a gorram idiot for not hiring Nathan full-time on LOST. Nathan's a huge fan, I'm a huge fan...it all works, ya know?

Give him a break guys, it's a JOB. As much as I would wish that job would involve Firefly, we all know that isn't going to happen, and the man has to make a living. Frankly I'm happy for him. Good on ya Nathan.

And here's one more thing, we've all been saying he should be a star and it's frustrating he's not a household name like a lot of male actors out there. Now as much as we love the intellegent shows he's been in that shows his amazing acting skills it's mainstream that'll put him on the map, and you can't get more mainstream then DH. Just think, in a year from now his name will be up there with Pitt, Bale and Ledger. Then as more good roles come to him he'll have more leveredge in Hollywood. That's what it's all about right? So I see this as a good thing, even if I don't care for the show or the premise, it's all good for Nathan and his career. We can't keep him to ourselves forever. As much as we'd like to.

Congrats Nathan.

I'm in complete agreement with you on this. I'm really happy for him if it pans out.

It's ME I'm unhappy for.

I just read the news on Yahoo and rushed over to share but, of course, not fast enough.

Quote from E-online article:

"...The Canadian-born Fillion has quietly become the leading man of the moment, having first made a name for himself as Captain Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds in the Joss Whedon-created fan favorite Firefly and then reprising his role in the 2005 big-screen offshoot Serenity.

Fillion, who also starred in the short-lived series Miss Match and Drive (each lasting less than a season), is currently in theaters playing the loveably shaggy-haired, married obstetrician opposite Keri Russell's confused, pregnant and unhappily married pie-making expert in the indie dramedy Waitress. "

They know we love him from Firefly!

"Appears they've cancelled the show and we're still here. What does that make us?"
"Big damn junkies, Sir!"
"Ain't we just."

Am I the only one here who watches Desperate Housewives anyway?

If this works out, I'll be happy for Nathan. I mean the man has got to eat. However, I sure wish he would be in a show where he plays one of the main characters, if not the main character. I doubt a show with an established ensemble cast where he plays just another boy toy is going to give him much screen time. I thought one of the problems with Drive was not enough Nathan. I love to watch him work.

May have been on the losing side, still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Good fer Nathan. Between Waitress and DHW, might be the breakout he needs into the big-time.

Not so good for his stunt double- he probably won't want a stand-in for most of his scenes-- :<)

SimonWho,

I will be watching DH with you. You never know...the writing could be the best since season 1. And with Nathan around...TV is always more enjoyable.

Remember LOST had a rough start last year? Well, I am glad that I stuck with it because the last 6 episodes were one of the best.

And I love the fact that Nathan's character is going to be paired with an older woman. That's something which you don't see enough of mainstream TV. We see plenty of younger women paired with older men. This tells me that the writers many be thinking of some new & interesting stories.

He's going to be paired with an older woman? Hmmm... shades of "One Life to Live" according to some of the scenes I recently checked out online.

I stopped watching "Desperate Housewives" halfway through the second season when it slid from groundbreaking quirkiness into mundane soap opera BUT I'll be watching it again if our captain is in it!

If I'm gonna dream, I'm gonna dream big.
