Well, not that I am expecting the show to be bad, cause...well....like I said, I liked the first one and really believe I'll like this one, but you'd better get yourself ready for a let down of monumental proportions.

I say this because no actor can truely capture the essence of your favorite character, because what endears the character to you is not necessarily what endears him/her to someone else.

However, even if they flub the character, doesn't mean the movie itself won't be good/great!

I take it back, the extended version is way cool, only thing is, you should skip the scene after the Hayden Planetarium, because it's totally redundant.
Bad editing choice to put both scenes in.
Other than that- excellent, just like the extended Spidey 2!
(But please, no extended Hulk- that movie was long enough...)

Instead of starting a new thread just thought I'd post a non-spoilery review of the sequel.

It's better than the original, in my opinion much better. I can't comment on how close the movie is to the comic because I'm not an avid reader of the franchise. The only thing I'm fairly sure of is that movie Galactus is a bit different from the comic version.

As for the technical aspects the story, acting, dialogue, and effects were quite good. It's safe to say Jessica Alba may have done her best acting in this film. I know, I know, the cynics will cry "that's not saying much" but she does a good job. However, there were a few scenes that she looked a bit creepy with the bright blonde hair and excessively blue eyes. Don't quite remember that in the original.

Really enjoyed the banter between Ben and Johnny. That was one of the highlights in the original and was continued in fine fashion.

I would have liked more screen time for Julian MacMahon as Victor von Doom. He does such a great job playing the bad guy, it's easy to see he enjoys throwing himself into such an archetypal villain role.

Regardless of what others have said the Silver Surfer looked pretty damn good. I will admit that he actually looked better when he was less shiny. I couldn't tell if those shots were CGI or an actor in some serious makeup. The action sequences were at least as good as any super hero film from the last few years.

The thing that impressed me most about the film was how light-hearted it was considering the overriding theme of the world being destroyed. That is one hell of a thing to pull off for both film makers and actors.

Lastly, the movie struck me as being very short time wise. Sure enough it came in at around one and a half hours. The pacing was good but at times it felt like things were squeezed together. Unlike some movies already mentioned on this thread I think this one would have benefited from an extra 15 to 20 minutes. Oh well, guess I'll wait for the extended version of this one on DVD.

Actually, I just saw it, and was impressed at how well they handled the Surfer. Though it may have just been my reading between the lines to fill in character subtext.

I especially loved the oblique reference to Sala Zend (the woman he loves). That is what motivates everything the Surfer does; love and sacrifice.

I'm glad you liked it. I enjoyed it myself. My daughter seemed to like it better than she did PotC3, but she doesn't like sitting through long movies anyways.
