Lots of good added scenes, but only one that I felt was REALLY good- when they awoke on the space station afer the storm passed.

Wasn't too impressed with the movie so it's unlikely I'll be picking up the extended version. Is that the only significant change?

Everything I have seen of the sequel leads me to believe it will be a more entertaining film. After the first my expectations weren't very high but I will be heading to the theater next week to see it.

Well, lots more scenes of Doom trying to split up the team, a' la The Yoko Factor in Buffy, but they weren't really necessary- it's more stuff for solid fans of the original- like me. Y'know, other reviews I've read have made me think...there IS a fair amount of character developement added to it...maybe I just missed it as being necessary because I'm so on-board with it already- many say it's now a better flick!

Some character development would have helped that movie a lot. I walked out of the theater thinking I had just seen a live action version of the Justice Pals.

I was always willing to give FANTASTIC FOUR a pass because for starters, it's an exposition movie. I think with the exception of the first SUPERMAN, BATMAN and X-MEN movies, the first in a line of superhero movies are weak to various degrees, because you spend the movie setting everything up. Here's the guy, here's the accident that gave him or her their powers, here's the bad guy, here's the fight, the end. But by the time the second film rolls around, they've gotten the exposition out of the way and can actually get to the heart of the character and what made the comic so spectacular.

Plus, the things about the FANTASTIC FOUR is that they're so iconic that there have been variations of the "family of superheroes" done before that people are familiar with them already. One complaint I hard was that FANTASTIC FOUR was too much like THE INCREDIBLES. That really pissed me off because the Fantastic Four had been around for over 40 years by the time THE INCREDIBLES hit theaters. If anything, it's the other way around.

It'll be the same problem that the film adapt of WATCHMEN is going to face, since the catastrophe in the comic had been done in both fiction ("Five Years Gone" on HEROES) and in real life (9/11). People will think they're ripping off others, when in fact they were the first opens to do that (although to be fair it was done already in an episode of the classic OUTER LIMITS)

Fantastic Four was just...... If I had paid for it I would have demanded my money back. But I didn't, so I had to put up with an hour of bad acting, screwed up exposition, and one of the lousiest happy endings I've had to suffer through. I'll wait till I can borrow FF2.

Sorry Chris, but it did nothing for me, and was rather insulting to my intellegence.

I can't get into that mindset. I can't like a story just because I'm supposed to. A great story told badly is bad. If they weren't able to tell the story of the Fantastic 4's beginning in a good manner then they just plain failed to tell a good story.

Look at it this way: there have been a million versions of Romeo and Juliet told. Some of those were successes and others were failures even though they had the same brilliant source material. Fantastic 4 had good source material but managed to completely fail at telling it well. They managed to fail so badly that I don't want to even see the second movie.

I didn't say I liked it. I said it was an exposition movie that was mildly entertaining at best. It was more run of the mill than excruciatingly awful.

That being said, the sequel could theoretically be better since because the first one was almost rock bottom, then there's no where to go but up.

The Fantastic 4 movie was watchable but weak at best, but it had a good ending, and I remember being impressed with the character called Sue Storm. She was better than the comics of age past which always featured her as a sniveling weakling. There's another Fantastic 4 movie out? I don't watch television and am busy with work most of the time...there's another FF4 movie out?? What is the plot? I hope to god they don't try to do the Silver Surfer if that's the case. If it is, well, welcome to the world of CGI.
