Honestly, I was merely hoping for a good debate about how posing naked degrades women.
There I go again. Well, I deleted my posts because sick is a harsh word. Sorry.

It's tooo late...now I've got an image in my head that won't go away, and I shouldn't be thinking thoughts like that cause I'm married, and she's married, and we don't know each other, and women like that never (ever) talk to me anyway (I can show you statistics), and did I mention I'm married....?
Oh, my head....

Oh, bugger! Now I have to wait for someone to wake up!

I would like to add that men and women of all ages will be commenting on Charisma's various body parts. That's why she was paid a lot of money to pose naked.
What I said (and deleted) is true, kind of funny, mature in nature, but it wasn't sick. I would say it's normal, just the kind of normal you aren't supposed to talk about for some reason.

PC or not PC: that is the question...
Quote from an Australian commentator whose name I forget: "Thank god America got the Puritans, and we got the prisoners!"
This culture's attitudes about sex need some serious tweaking.
Can't blame you for editing, 'Tash (though I did laugh so hard at your original quote, I suspect the neighbors are wondering about the possibility of arcane rituals involving hyenas ['hyenae?'] in here). Just more than a little bummed at the climate that would declare such good-fun salaciousness "sick." (note: this should NOT be interpreted as a dig at the poster who used that word, and who seemed more affectionate than accusatory. I'm making a broader social critique).
I say, Go Charisma! She had a kid, then got her body back to where she wanted it, and was so pleased with the results that she chose to 'shake what her momma gave her.' And, no doubt, make a nice heap of coin in the process!
I once read a feminist author who, appalled at the insidious subversion of the freedom of thought which wore the Victorian clothing of Political Correctness, declared 'objectification' as a pernicious euphemism for 'desire.' Mayhap she took it a bit too far (there is more than a bit of erotica which is powerful hideous and dehumanizing). But the basic sentiment, IMHO, is not altogether unsound.
But what can I say? I'm a shrink; I spend a fair bit of time helping folks see that they're not culpable for their thoughts.

Just to clarify on my end-- I wasn't accussing Tash of sickness, God knows I've seen and read worse things on the Web by far-- it was just his original post created such an instantaneous image in my mind that I think I was, literally, speechless with it. I damn near crushed my (styrofoam) coffee cup. Thank God I could still type....
I have mixed feelings about Charisma doing this, but it's a free country, she's definitely an adult, and for the first time in a long time I'm going to be tempted to buy a Playboy come June.
Oh, crap...now I've pictured her in that spangled bikini outfit from the Pylea episodes....
Bad imagination! Bad!
Oh, bugger! Now I have to wait for someone to wake up!

I was merely referring to 'Tash's euphemisms. Sure, they cracked me up. I was the only female in a family full of brothers, male cousins, etc. Very little shocks me anymore.
However, I can't say as all women would find certain descriptors of female body parts quite as amusing.
No matter...'Tash, you're one funny mother, and I wouldn't want you to change!

You know, as a feminist, I am not at all disappointed in Charisma for posing for Playboy. I mean if you are going to pose nude, who better to do it for than Playboy? I agree there are definately magazines a woman with any inkling of self-worth would not pose for. She did get herself back into incredible shape which was noticable even fully clothed for 'Your Welcome'. Why not show it to the world, you know she worked hard for the body she's got. Hell, if I looked like Charisma I wouldn't hesitate to do it, and many would definately say I am then not a feminist. Believing in the power of women means being able to accept that women should be able to do with their bodies whatever they want and feel comfortable with (I even include Inara's profession in that statement) As a heterosexual women, I am sure I will be buying a Playboy come June, (yes my first, if anyone is wondering). Otherwise the curiosity will kill me as all you men discuss the myriad of aspects regarding the pictures (which you are want to do). The only disappointment I had after creating this post is that no one made the obvious Firefly references to it (assuming they were not only obvious to me of course):
From the women: "Hell, I'd sleep with him (changing it up to 'her' of course)"
From the men: "If I were unwed I would take you in a manly fashion," "She was all naked and articulate" (ok, at least the naked part)& last but certainly not least, my personal favorite, "I'll be in my bunk" seriously, what else would Jayne say?
I only fell is all.

First (well, second!) thing that ran through my mind was Jayne, with an incredulous look on his face. "Bunk..... Must get.. to.. bunk......"
If she wants to pose, more power to her. My ex posed for a Playboy photographer years before I met her. The pictures were never published, but she still has copies, and they were very tasefully done.
And if Charisma's husband doesn't have a problem with her posing, well, so much the better for all of us!!
MAL "You only gotta scare him."
JAYNE "Pain is scary..."

tastfully done and artistic really means glossy 'girly pic' treatment. The sort of 'feminist mystique' people looove to impose.
You know - I like Net porn because there are pictures of actual women. :)

What they really mean is heavily air-brushed...
With enough retouching and airbrushing, even I can be in Playbouy....
