Actually rival studio execs do write reviews tainting projects from other studios. In this case that's highly unlikely. Fox still has a stake in Joss.
Besides that I've been on the IMDB boards for years. There's an element of fan who like to bash works that other users like. It's a way, in their minds to buck the status quo. It's also rather silly.

I'd found a similarly trollish review of the BDM online a while ago, and used that same quote when I posted it here, trying to incite my fellow Browncoats to flame the guy.

BTW, the Television Academy doesn't award Emmys for "atrocious special effects", so that alone should tell you what this individual's opinion is worth.
We've got a 9.5/10 rating (10,666 votes) on IMDb, and out of 465 User Comments, only 27 (6%) come up under the "Hated It" filter.
Star Wars gets an 8.8/10 rating (200,309 votes), and out of 1,091 comments, 217 (20%) hated it!
I don't think we have to worry about the nay-sayers!
