The one thing that I wanted resolved was the story between Jack an Beckett. Obviously they know each other and it is heavily implied in both two and three that Beckett is the one who branded Jack but htere;s more to it that' they just don't tell us. Will's question to Beckett in #2 was never answered. "What mark did he leave on you?" and the scene with Jack and Beckett in #3 were Beckett references betrayal and we find out that what Beckett wants most is Jack dead.
Why?? What is there between them? They taunt me with unexplained backstory!!

*edit* Damn. I've seen it twice now and I hadn't heard anything about an after credits bit. Well, I'm planning to take my dad to it in the near future. I'll just have to stick around for it this time.

I saw it this past Wednesday. I was totally confused by the plot, but I'm not one for being able to follow complicate plot lines! LOL

I probably would have enjoyed it more had it not been so long! There were some good moments, but I really liked the second movie best -- because of the silly humor.

As silly as Jack is, I really enjoyed watching him deal with all those pratfalls!

I want to see the stuff after the credits, but I don't think I can take sitting for almost three hours in uncomfortable theater seats again...
Maybe if someone else wants to see it and I go with.

Thank you EvilDino! When I mentioned this frustration to my friends, I got blank looks in return. Apparently, they weren't paying taht much attention.
Businesswise though it is a smart move. Leaves something for them to explain in some format. Videogame perhaps. Somehow I don't think full fledged prequel.

OMG I LOVED this movie!!! So many great moments, and we got Mr. Rush back again This one would have to be my favorite out of the 3 so far... and about the game, dear lord do I want to play it, but as of right now I don't have the spare cash laying around with which to buy a "next-gen" system and the game... but I could totally see them answering the Beckette/Jack connection in the game, or in a book, or... something *shrugs* The only thing that made me mad is that when I went to see it (8 o'clock showing very first day) our screen didn't start 'till about 8:45 and the screen cut out twice during the show but that just gives me an excuse to go see it again

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I didn't think it was as good as the first two. There were moments I enjoyed, but to me, it just wasn't up to snuff.

That being said, one thing I did like was that the ending wasn't a typical Hollywood one. Sacrifices were made, and people didn't end up getting exactly what they wanted.

And just out of curosity, does anyone know the song that the little boy was singing in the beginning of the film?

The song was an original musical score for the movie, no historical basis for it. I believe Hans Zimmer made it, as he routinely sells peices of his soul to Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer to compose music for their shitty movies. It's like the unholy trinity of Hollywood.

On that note, here's my opinion of the movie. Just imagine that the ninja is actually me, because he sums up my feelings exactly.

Y'know, despite all the plot-holes, plot dead-ends, random plots that make no sense, heavy reliance on special effects, that anti-climactic little scene after the credits, and everything else that made this movie a train wreck like the second one... I like it. A lot.

well I had seen it before I heard about the bit at the end of the relentless credits.. (It IS a special effects movie, after all, and the credits go on for like 22 minutes!! LOL)

So today, I went to see Once.... and when it ended, I popped into the theater where pirates was JUST ending.. about 1/2 way through the credits.. so I stayed and watched the last scene..

might be a way to go for those who cannot sit through all those names....lol

I'm kind of on the fence about this movie. I really want to see it, but I don't want to go and waste my money if I'm going to hate it.

Everyone keeps raving about it, so that gives me some hope, but I can't find anyone who is like me--they just kind of like the Pirates movies, but aren't completely wildly in love with them, and don't hate their guts. I need someone in the middle.

The second one for me didn't do it. The first 30-45 minutes could have completely been cut from the movie and it would still have made sense, perhaps more so, and it would've been tons better because it wouldn't have been so long.

Critics complained that there were plot inconsistancies and the plot was difficult to follow in the 2nd one, but if you watch it twice or more, you can easily see that Jack is manipulating everyone and everything to get the Dead Mans Chest. It's not that difficult.

But, I've heard with this 3rd one, that the plot inconsistancies and plot holes are tripled and that it is very difficult to follow. Personally, I don't want to go to a movie and just see the special effects if I can't understand the story. I want to understand what's going on, because if I don't, I enjoy the movie significantly less. Basically I'm all about the writing. If the writing sucks, then the movie sucks, obviously. The second one was bearable once I stopped watching the beginning of it, and Johnny Depp really does carry these movies on his back effortlessly. If he weren't in them, I think they would completely bomb.

Also, my opinion? POTC 4 will be coming to a theater near you in 2008 or 2009.
