I watched it and...I dunno. I thought it was okay, but not all that great. Using a scale someone else did, if I Firefly is a 10, then I'd give Wonderfalls a 6. It was witty, which I like, and had a rare gem or two of script that, if you weren't paying attention, you'd miss something amusing. But I still don't know. It didn't do much for me, I think I'm getting too picky about my shows. The guy at the bar was fun, he'll prolly keep me around for a few episodes, and once Jewel joins I'll HAVE to watch it. And the third episode is called 'Wind-Up Penguin' (and being the dork I am, that amuses me), so I hope to catch it.
I finally watched some of Joan that same Friday night. Quite frankly I liked it better than Wonderfalls, but I'm gonna watch both shows until one somehow shakes me off. I gotta find new shows, all of mine are leaving!

I didn't get to see it, but I've gotten ahold of the pilot. I'll check it out.
I love Joan of Arcadia----its really the first "high school" show that I ever enjoyed. In fact, liking Joan is a big part of what convinced me to give Buffy a chance, which I now also like.

I have to say that I adored Wonderfalls - I thought it was quirky, in a good way, and it made me laugh out loud several times. I can see how it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea (of course, neither is Firefly), but I think it's much better than most TV out there right now. I enjoyed the premise, but that wasn't what really got me - mostly, I enjoyed the characters. I locked into them quite quickly. The actress who plays Jaye is just fabulous, and her reactions to various things are amusing and at times, poignant. Her family is wonderful, in that 'I wouldn't want them but man they're fun to watch' sort of way, and the interaction between them is some of the best stuff of the show.
My one complaint is that stuff happened rather quickly - there was a lot of 'wish fulfullment,' a lot of things resolved in the space of a single episode. However, I suspect that they were simply sliding things into place for the rest of the season - I'm hoping every episode won't solve a problem that neatly and that the relationships will stay complex and uneasy.
Anyway. That was rambly, but my verdict is: catch a few episodes. I think more than a few people will be pleasantly surprised.

I saw it yesterday night, and after seeing the 2nd one, I had to dl the first one.
Excellent show. Its witty, clever, and just speaks out to all of us that are disillusioned and drifting through the world :)
I've heard that the critics love it, but ratings for it haven't been as high...
I see it almost as a firefly parallel. Friday timeslot, good critic reviews, low viewing.
:( Hope it doesn't get axed. Because then that will be the 2nd show of mine that fox has killed. :(

I saw the pilot and liked it, then saw the second ep and loved it. This one is a keeper. It's wonderfully clever and intelligent, and the characters are just the right level of bizzare. Someone compared it to Ally Mcbeal, but on Ally, the characters were crazy and completely out of touch. On Wonderfalls, they're misfits, but they're sane (assuming the animals do talk.) They're still believable, but not generic.
I also love how it jumps around; it goes from light and funny to tense and crazy to almost sentimental, to really twisted. It's a fantasy comedy drama, which is what makes it great. I really hope this one lasts. (So watch it!)
Book: I'd forgotten - you're moonlighting as a criminal mastermind now.
Simon: No, but I'm thinking about growing a big black mustache. I'm a traditionalist.

I will watch it so long as it does not come on opposite Stargate SG1. If it does, I am afraid I will not be able to see it.

I missed this new show for the same reason. Must watch SG-1! I did catch the rerun of the pilot on Thursday.
I guess that's why I have a VCR

They can have my "Firefly" DVDs when they pry them from my cold, dead fingers....
Oh yeah,
you, FOX TV!!

Only the second? I think it has evolved into a national sport to chart all the quality shows that FOX TV aired, mishandled, then ultimately smoked blaming poor ratings. I think they just like airing utter rubbish like "American Idol" and "Any other pointless and intellectually dead reality show that cost $1.98 to produce".

FOX has killed several of my favorites, "Firefly" being the best of all of them.

OK, you may not instantly fall in love with this show, but it is very good, with the potential to be great. Quirky, off-centre, with a healthy dose of dark comedy - I am going to be watching and recording this show for as long as it runs. Thank you, Tim Minear!!
